Bo Derek: Aging Angst Revealed, Bo Talks John Corbett, ‘Sharknado 3’ Thrills, & Hollywood’s Age Bias [Video]

Bo Derek hates aging. The actress known as a perfect 10 would give aging a minus 10 for its impact on life, liberty and the pursuit of beauty. But Bo doesn’t want to trade her relationship with long-term lover John Corbett for the chance to turn back the clock, she told Entertainment Tonight.

Currently cast as the mom of Tara Reid in Sharknado 3: Hell No!, Derek admitted that she hates the impact aging has on her skin.

“I feel I’m aging like other people,” explained the 58-year-old actress. “I feel it’s not fair. I don’t mind the years. I just mind the look. I miss my skin.”

In 1979, Bo soared to fame as the world’s hottest sex symbol when she jogged along the beach in 10. But now, says Derek, she realizes that Hollywood makes it hard for actresses to play such hot roles because of what she views as a sexist bias against aging.

“I don’t play the parts I used to play, obviously,” revealed Bo. “I’ve been a producer. I wouldn’t cast me in a lot anymore. At the same time, I’m guilty too. I like to look at younger faces on the screen, and most of our stories are told by younger people because they’re the ones that would make a difference in a plot or storyline most of the time.”

Rather than attempt to stay in her acting niche, Derek has shifted to various roles in the entertainment industry, such as becoming a photographer for her Sharknado co-stars Ian Ziering and Tara.

“Ian’s very opinionated,” laughed Derek. “I remember one idea I had. I showed him an example of what I wanted to do and he looked at it and said, ‘Ok, for you I’ll do it.'”

And she enjoys working with the cast of Sharknado.

“It’s just so campy and fun,” enthused Bo. “It’s the popcorn, the laughing, the screaming, the having a good time — it’s a very social experience.”

Sharknado 3 flies onto screens July 22 at 9/8c on Syfy.

As for her love life, John and Bo have stayed together for more than a decade without feeling pressured to wed.

“He’s funny. He makes me laugh all the time,” said Derek. “We talk about [marriage] sometimes but we don’t have children and we’re not young, so there isn’t that pressure or need to get married.”

As the Inquisitr reported, Bo also has discussed the question of whether she would have plastic surgery.

“There is a certain expectation. I get credit on one hand for not having had a facelift, and then on the other hand it’s, ‘Oh my God, why doesn’t she do something?'”

Will Bo have cosmetic surgery or fillers? At this point, she’s still equivocating.

“You’re just torn,” she admitted. “I just have to keep busy, have other interests, and try not to think about it.”

Sharknado 3 also delights Ian Ziering, reported News Australia.

“I personally don’t know what to make of it, but I’m happy to be part of it,” he declared.

The plot features killer sharks who terrorize the nation by getting whirled into tornadoes. The creators of the Sharknado phenom Syfy herald Sharknado 2 as TV’s most social media, with one billion impressions in Twitter conversations.

In addition to Bo, Ian, and Tara, those who appear in cameos in Sharknado 3 include David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff, Jerry Springer and Jackie Collins.
