Ryan Reynolds Admits To Baby Carrier Mistake, But Claims His Hold Has Been ‘Perfect Every Other Time’

Ryan Reynolds has openly admitted his baby carrier wasn’t perfect, but was quick to point out that it had been “perfect every other time.”

What began as an interesting way to teasingly offer a sneak peek of the baby, turned into phenomenal social media rebuke as thousands disproved of the way Ryan Reynolds was holding his baby daughter in the shoulder mounted carrier, reported People. Ryan Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, had posted a photo of the new doting dad and their lovely daughter, James, on Instagram on Father’s Day with noble intentions. However, instead of earning “oohs” and “aahs,” the otherwise adorable pic caused quite a controversy and debate.

Commenters were quick to point out that Ryan had improperly secured his six-month-old daughter in a baby carrier, reported Star Pulse. Ryan and Blake have been holding their baby, and any information about her, close to their chest, but this photo went a little farther than intended. Fans that had been eager to look at the young couple’s baby were quite disappointed at the photo, and the way the actor had secured the “package,” merely added to discontent.

Owing to the controversy, Ryan publicly acknowledged his mistake during his interview on Today show and said.

“The baby is not properly secured in the vessel that I’m wearing there. I’m a first-time dad and that is not the first mistake I’ve made and I can guarantee it won’t be the last. I had never used that particular carrier before so every other time it’s been perfect.”

To pacify his fans, he did offer a little information about his daughter.

“Baby looks like me. I’m not saying that like any kind of gloating. I’ve heard, like, there is a sort of genetic predisposition like an evolutionary tactic to make sure the father stays. I’m staying, I don’t need that.”

He even shared why they named their baby “James,” a name that has been traditionally reserved for boys. He explained the couple chose the name because it’s a family name, and Lively likes having a boy’s name of her own.

It is quite apparent that Reynolds, 38, and Lively, 27, are still learning not just the fine art of parenting, but how to carefully manage the content they post online to their eager and enthusiastic fans, not to mention mothers who are watching, hawk-eyed, for any slip-ups.

Nonetheless, Ryan Reynolds appears to be a doting dad, and is aware of the developments in his baby’s life, despite the mandatory time he has to spend to promote Self/Less.
