Vanessa Williams’ Wedding Dress Makes Her Look Like An ‘Egyptian Goddess’ As Actress Weds For Third Time [Video]

Vanessa Williams chose a wedding dress that paid homage to the fact that she met true love in Egypt three years ago. When Vanessa and Jim Skrip tied the knot at their very special Independence Day celebration last weekend, Williams’ wedding dress made her feel like a goddess, she told People.

However, something different also took place to make Vanessa’s marriage day extra-special. Williams chose two separate wedding dresses, both designed by Carmen Marc Valvo.

The first outfit combined a skirt and top, with the Egyptian theme played out by wrapping a gold band around her waist.

“It was magnificent. I felt like an Egyptian goddess, and that was exactly the theme I was going for.”

As for Jim, who is a businessman, fashion took second place to his happiness.

“Honestly, when I saw Vanessa walking down the aisle, I didn’t even notice her dress. We locked eyes and I got caught up in the moment, full of happiness and joy,” confessed Skrip.

However, once he did, he loved it, and also enjoyed her surprise change into a different gown for their vows.

“When I finally noticed the dress, it was perfect for Vanessa: sleek, simple and sexy. She then had another surprise for me: she did a quick change into another beautiful gown for the vows ceremony. She was stunning!”

Williams and Jim are 52, and were married in Buffalo, New York, which is his hometown as well as the hometown of Vanessa’s mother. And that simple fact kick-started their romance.

“He was wearing a Buffalo Sabres shirt, and I walked over to him and said, ‘Are you from Buffalo? My mom’s from Buffalo,’ ” revealed Williams. “There was an immediate attraction, and after a long, three-hour dinner, we had so much in common. It was obviously meant to be!”

Vanessa kept her hairstyle simple. Williams’ wedding dress outfit was completed by elegant sandals, reported Us Weekly.

And both Vanessa and Jim are still amazed and amused that they met in Egypt, even though both come from New York.

“You go across the world to find somebody who’s six hours away,” laughed Williams.

Vanessa was previously married to Ramon Hervey, with whom she has a son, Devin, 22, and two daughters, Melanie, 28, and Jillian, 26. In addition, Williams was married to Rick Fox, and they have one daughter, named Sasha, 15.

Vanessa and her new husband weren’t the only ones to choose July 4 to get married. As the Inquisitr reported, Tara Costa of The Biggest Loser also was married on Independence Day this year.
