Selena Gomez, Cody Simpson Dating? Or Are They Just Friends?

Selena Gomez and Cody Simpson were rumored to be dating, according to fans and shippers of the couple. Reports of the couple’s alleged romance started with a seemingly innocent pic. Selena shared an Instagram photo of herself eating ice cream with Cody and some other friends at Venice beach.

It also didn’t help when Gomez added she had one of the “best days ever.” That had “Jelena” fans wondering if Simpson stole Gomez away from his good friend, Justin Bieber. Simpson denied the rumors about him dating Gomez on the Australian Today Show, and insists that he’s just “friends with everyone” in the industry. According to Simpson, he would rather focus on his music career, especially after splitting from Gigi Hadid.

“It’s all sweet, like I try to be friends with everyone. I’m always good mates with everyone and stay on the good side of people. I never let any bad blood between anyone.

I was in a highly publicized relationship for a while and now it’s kind of nice to be able to chill and like work on my music.”

Although Cody has come out and said he’s not dating Selena, the media is still not buying it. Amanda Austin, contributor for Celebrity Dirty Laundry, wrote that Selena and Cody are desperately hiding their romance. Cody is good friends with Selena’s ex, and Selena is friends with Cody’s ex-girlfriend. An inside source also told CDL that Selena and Cody are “definitely hooking up.”

“Selena and Cody are definitely hooking up. Selena is getting frustrated though because Cody basically looks up to Justin and is a little intimidated by him. She wants to go public, but Cody is scared.”

There are also rumors claiming that Selena Gomez and Cody Simpson put their romance on hold because of their famous exes. Meanwhile, other reports think that the reason why Simpson is dating Gomez is to get back at Hadid. This isn’t the first time that the Simpson-Gomez dating rumors have popped up on the internet.

That’s right. Selena was rumored to be dating the up-and-coming Australian singer back in 2011, according to a Hollywood Life report. At the time, Cody was rumored to become the next Justin Bieber. He was also rumored to become Selena Gomez’s new boyfriend. However, it looks like these rumors took social media by storm after the two were spotted having ice cream cones with their friends.

Gomez was also seen at Simpson’s 18th birthday party back in January, 2015. Simpson reportedly had two birthday parties that weekend, in which Gomez and Bieber attended on separate nights. Gomez attended Simpson’s party on Saturday night, January 10, while Bieber attended on Sunday night, January 11. Gomez and Simpson even posed for another seemingly innocent photo at the time.
