Report: Stephen Hawking Hospitalized


Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking is hospitalized and “very ill,” according to a report published by the BBC. Hawking is currently undergoing some type of medical tests at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, the network says.

Hawking, 67, suffers from motor neuron disease. He requires a wheelchair for mobility and a voice synthesizer to speak. It’s not clear whether Hawking’s hospitalization is directly related to his condition.

Stephen Hawking is a professor at Cambridge University’s Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. He wrote the bestselling book A Brief History of Time and created the “Hawking radiation” theory about black holes’ emissions of thermal radiation.
