‘The Good Wife’ Casting News: Season 7 Brings On New Key Character [Spoilers]

Season 7 of The Good Wife is on the way, but it seems there will be some significant changes in terms of the cast. Viewers already had to say goodbye to Archie Panjabi in the role of Kalinda Sharma at the end of Season 6, and now new scoop is out regarding further departures and additions. What Good Wife spoilers are being revealed now?

In addition to Archie Panjabi leaving her role, much to the dismay of fans, it’s also already been reported that Matthew Goode is departing as Finn Polmar, as well. While Goode will no longer be a series regular, it seems that he may still be incorporated via a guest appearance or two.

Now, TVLine reports that Makenzie Vega, who plays Alicia Florrick’s daughter Grace, is dropping from regular cast status, as well. However, Vega isn’t leaving the role entirely. She will still be around on a recurring basis, which has already been the case for Graham Phillips, who plays her brother.

In the midst of all of these departures, there is some enticing news for show fans. Good Wife spoilers indicate that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been added to the cast for Season 7. Many remember Morgan from his role as Denny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy, as JD Richter on Extant, or his role as John Winchester on Supernatural.

TV Guide shares that Morgan will play the role of Alex, an investigator brought in by Alicia. Not only will Alex help Alicia on the work side, apparently there could be an opportunity for romance, as well. Are fans ready to see Florrick find love again, and could Alex be the right guy for her at last?

Good Wife spoilers also detail that Cush Jumbo from Torchwood will be joining Season 7, too. The British actress is already well-known in the theater world, though this will be her debut on American television. It seems that her role is less defined at this point, though it’s said she’s not necessarily considered to be a replacement for Panjabi. Deadline shares that Jumbo’s role will be a recurring one.

There have been a fair number of frustrated Good Wife fans after this last season, especially with how Panjabi departed. Now that Alicia’s political run is behind her and she’s having to reinvent herself again, will new storylines and new love interests lure viewers in for Season 7? The Good Wife returns to CBS with new episodes beginning on Sunday, October 4.
