Aaden Moreno: 7-Month-Old Infant Boy Missing After Father Jumps Off Bridge In Connecticut

Aaden Moreno, 7 months, has gone missing after his father jumped from a Connecticut bridge Sunday night. The Middletown Police Department have reason to believe that the little boy might have been with his father, Tony Moreno, 22. He reportedly attempted suicide on the Arrigoni Bridge that spans over the Connecticut River, but survived. He’s in serious condition at Hartford Hospital, according to the Washington Post.

The incident happened around 11:45 p.m., when police were called to the scene by a member of Moreno’s family. Middletown Police Dept. spokeswoman Lt. Heather Desmond says that the family told authorities Tony Moreno was threatening to jump off the bridge. Desmond explains that police are “acting as if he is in the water, but we’re also acting as if he’s not.”

Police are out looking in the homes of friends and relatives that the family is associated with. A team of divers and canines are also searching for Aaden Moreno.

The Associated Press reports that responding police didn’t see any sign of the little boy being with his father before he attempted his suicide. His whereabouts are a complete mystery that they’re trying to get to the bottom of.

Aaden weighs 23 pounds and was last seen wearing a white Mickey Mouse shirt with black stripes and black pants. NBC Connecticut adds that the missing infant is about two-feet tall, with brown eyes and brown hair.

The report states the person Tony Moreno was on the phone with, as he threatened to jump off the bridge, said the baby was heard in the background. Police think that Aaden Moreno was with his father at one point before they arrived, but aren’t certain. After he leaped off the Arrigoni Bridge, rescuers swam in to rescue him. He was then airlifted to the hospital, where he’s currently unable to speak with police about the case due to his condition.

Middletown Police Capt. Sean Moriarty wants anyone with information leading to the child’s whereabouts to contact them.

“We are contacting known associates of the suicidal male to see if the child was left in the care of someone else. But if anyone has any information please contact the Middletown police department at 860-638-4000.”

A Silver Alert was issued for Aaden Moreno. Divers and search boats continue looking for the missing 7-month-old baby. State police and the U.S. Coast Guard are assisting in the search for the child that may or may not be in the Connecticut River.
