Pippa Middleton Christening Style Earns Fashion Prize: Prince William Honors Diana In Godparents Choice [Photos]

Pippa Middleton took the christening ceremony fashion prize as adorable 2-month-old Princess Charlotte was honored by members of the royal family, friends, and fans. With Duchess Kate Middleton, Prince William, and Prince George also getting the main thrust of the media attention, Pippa earned approval from fashion watchers for her ultra-chic frock and designer hat, reported Us Weekly.

At 31, Middleton has learned to make the most of her famously fit figure by choosing fitted attire and ultra-high heels. Her coat-dress, designed by Emilia Wickstead, complemented her Jane Taylor Millinery hat.

Pippa’s choice of a Taylor hat thrilled Jane.

“Pippa Middleton is the epitome of elegance and style,” praised Taylor. “And I could not be more honored to see her wearing one of my designs so beautifully today at such a significant royal occasion.”

The onlookers included Pippa’s brother, James, and her parents, Michael and Carol Middleton.

In addition to satisfying the desires of royal fashion watchers for memorable outfits, the christening ceremony answered the much-debated question of who Prince William and Duchess Kate would choose as godparents, reported CNN.

Rather than follow the tradition of naming royal family members as godparents, Prince William and Duchess Kate selected close friends. In addition, true to William’s desire to include memories of his mother Princess Diana wherever possible, he did so at the christening by choosing Laura Fellowes as one of the godparents.

Laura is a cousin from Diana’s side of the family. Moreover, the church that they chose is where Diana was christened herself, and the photographer, Mario Testino, was one of Diana’s personal favorites. In addition, Diana is among Charlotte’s middle names.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge and Prince George of Cambridge arrive at the Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham Estate for the Christening of Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.

However, the christening ceremony didn’t completely stray from tradition. The royal baby’s christening robe was the same worn by Prince George when he was christened in 2013.

In addition, the most senior bishop within the Church of England supervised the event. The baptismal font traveled from the Tower of London, where it resides with the crown jewels.

While Pippa wasn’t named one of the godparents, Middleton also has been honored when it comes to her inclusion in the full name of Princess Charlotte, as the Inquisitr reported.

The royal baby’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Charlotte dates back to King George III’s oldest daughter in 1766. In addition, it’s Pippa’s middle name.

Elizabeth pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother Elizabeth. Carole Middleton’s middle name is Elizabeth. And of course, Diana honors Princess Diana, William’s beloved mother.
