‘Sons of Anarchy’: Five Amazing Facts You Didn’t Know About Your Favorite Show

Sons of Anarchy fans pride themselves in knowing everything about their favorite show.

But there are facts about Sons of Anarchy that even the most hardcore of fans might not know. Today, we bring to you five such facts that we bet you didn’t know. And what’s better, some of them come directly from the set!

Charlie Hunnam Carried A Marijuana Grinder In His Backpack While Shooting Sons of Anarchy

As revealed by Entertainment Weekly recently, the contents of Charlie Hunnam’s backpack as he went to shoot Sons of Anarchy were more interesting than what an actor would ordinarily carry on a normal day of shoot. Hunnam spoke candidly about what he most needs for a hard day’s work.

“Scripts. Phone. Gum. Cigarettes. iPod. Marijuana grinder. Everything I need.”

Stephen King Appeared On Sons of Anarchy

The brilliant horror fiction writer is a great fan of Sons of Anarchy. He appeared in the third season of Sons of Anarchy as a cleaner named Bachman, a pseudonym he used early in his career. On his blog, Stephen King wrote how it all happened.

“I had a chance to act on Sons of Anarchy, and I jumped at the chance. I like to act — not that I’m much good at it, but I suspect most writers do — and a number of factors came together. I was in Los Angeles, where SOA films, to accept a library award; creator Kurt Sutter assured me that he’d write me a suitably nasty part (in various films I’ve been stuck playing a series of mentally challenged country bumpkins); most important of all, he said he’d put me on a b***hin Harley. How could I say no?”

Kim Coates Used His Finger As A Gun When Rehearsing Scenes

Kim Coates, who played one of the most violent members of the SAMCRO gang in Sons of Anarchy, Tim Trager, used his finger for a weapon during rehearsals. He spoke to Entertainment Weekly about it when they visited the set.

“Everyone knows don’t f*** with my finger. I’m serious.”

Katey Sagal Sings In Every Season Of Sons of Anarchy

Katey Sagal, who plays the matriarch Gemma Teller Morrow, is a one-woman trivia machine. She is married to Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, and also has a son named Jackson in real life. But you guys probably know that.

What you may not know is that Sagal features as a singer in the show’s best-selling soundtrack. She has a beautiful raspy voice. As reported by What Culture, she has performed a song for each of the seven seasons. And even more amazingly, Sagal was once a backing vocalist for Bob Dylan!

Chibs’ Scars Are Real

Before Tommy Flanagan, who plays Chibs in Sons of Anarchy, made his way to Hollywood, he was a club DJ in Glasgow. One night after a gig, he was at the receiving end of a knife attack on the streets. His distinctive symmetrical scars (known on the street as a Glasgow smile) were integrated into the character of Chibs. This is one of the reasons Flanagan appears so convincing as a violent member of SAMCRO.

Sons of Anarchy may have finished its seventh and final season, but the impressions it has cast will live long in the memories of Sons of Anarchy‘s fans.
