Matt Damon Ponytail Power Preempts ‘Great Wall’ Film PR As Twitter Celebrates Matt’s Hair On Man Crush Monday [Video]

Matt Damon possesses ponytail power. The actor sent happy shock waves through social media by tying back his healthy hair into a ponytail, rocking the red carpet at a press conference for The Great Wall, reported InStyle.

Combining that daring hairdo with a lumberjack style, Matt earned a separate Twitter account — or rather, Damon’s new ponytail suddenly spawned an account.

“I may be shocking at first, but I grow on you. Or more specifically on Matt Damon. #MattDamon #bronytail #manpony #mattdamonsponytail,” tweeted @mattdamonpony.

Some on social media suggested that other actors replace their own hair buns with Matt-style tails.

“Hoping Matt Damon’s ponytail will cause an extinction of the man bun #thankyouMattDamon.”

As for just which actors have previously had hair power with their buns, Leonardo DiCaprio, Harry Styles, and Jared Leto are among the celebrity fans of the locks-locked-int0-buns style.

However, Matt does have a slight PR problem. Damon’s ponytail got so much buzz that it pre-empted the focus on his film, reported the Los Angeles Times.

At 44, Matt has become known for keeping his locks trimmed. But Damon apparently decided it was the perfect period in his life at which to grow a ponytail – and then chose the Beijing press conference to debut it.

So, while social media and hair fashion experts cheerfully debate such serious topics as whether Matt would look better in a man-bun, versus letting it all hang out, versus that now trending Damon ponytail, the film’s creators and cast attempted to talk about The Great Wall.

Others at the press conference cast in the shadows by Matt’s hairdo included Pedro Pascal, known for Game of Thrones, Zhang Yimou, who directed the film, Andy Lau, and Jing Tian. The Great Wall is designed as a dramatic mystery drawn from the real life history of the Great Wall.

The Great Wall will hit theaters in November, 2016, from Universal. Damon’s ponytail has not yet revealed in what form it will appear for that release.

However, for something different, Matt may want to take a tip from Kim Kardashian. As the Inquisitr reported, the star of Keeping Up With The Kardashians recently got her own flood of attention from social media and the press by switching her hair from brown to platinum blonde to brunette and back again.

What do you think of Matt Damon’s ponytail? Should he trim his hair, try a man-bun style, or keep that ‘tail intact? Post your comments below.
