One Direction Fandom Erupts In Fury Over Alleged ‘Fake Death’ Hashtag

One Direction fans are famed for their dedication to the members of the boy-band. Sadly One Direction fans are also famed for being obsessional about the band too. It seems that some One Direction fans will do almost any thing to get noticed by band members Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. Sadly, sometimes certain members of the One Direction “fandom” do crazy things to try to gain just a little attention from their heroes.

Recently it was reported in Inquisitr that a 15-year-old One Direction fan put her virginity up for auction on a Swedish online auction site in a bid to raise enough money to follow One Direction to every show left on their “On The Road Again” world tour. Shortly after that members of One Direction showed their kindness by reaching out to a young fan who was badly injured in a roller-coaster accident at UK theme park Alton Towers.

Now it seems that One Direction fans have turned detective. Earlier today the hashtag #RipRosalind began to trend on Twitter. According to Unreality TV the trend began after a post appeared on the social media platform saying that a teenage One Direction fan had died in a car wreck just days before she was due to attend a One Direction show.

“I’m sorry to inform you that the owner of this account passed away in a car accident. RIP Rosalind.”

That message was immediately followed by others expressing sympathy. One read “#RipRosalind. Today another member of our family has been taken away. Sleep tight @Rosalzjm! She was counting down for OTRA SD.”

The message was immediately picked up by One Direction fans who began to Tweet their sympathy.

It seems that One Direction fans are not ones to take things at face value and some went digging to test the veracity of the report of Rosalind’s death. Within minutes came the claims that the posts were some kind of attention-seeking stunt.

It seems that One Direction fans have been stung by similar fake death stories in the past, so when similar stories emerge it seems that the One Direction detectives are on the job to check out the stories.

One Direction are currently on a short break between dates in their 80-night world tour. The U.S leg of the tour kicks off again Thursday July 9 in San Diego, California and runs through to September 12 before One Direction return to Europe for a series of sold-out shows.
