‘The Originals’ Brings In Some Fresh Blood And Hayley Is An Angry, Frothing Wolf

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Originals.

As the fall season draws ever closer, many shows are letting loose some teasers and some generalized spoilers to draw in old fans and entice new ones, but, for The Originals, it’s time to reveal new characters. The Originals star Phoebe Tonkin also wants fans to know that Hayley, her Originals character, is not in the best of places, physically or emotionally.

The Originals is bringing in three new characters to liven up The Big Easy, and the first of those is a compelling new undead femme fatale. The Originals creative team describes Aurora as sexy and spontaneous, but warn that her unpredictable temper can be deadly.

Also coming to The Originals for the third season is Lucien, and this character brings a degree of mystery with him, as he is described as having history with The Originals‘ Mikaelson family. Knowing Klaus and his siblings, there can be no good history there, particularly with Lucien suddenly looking to seek out those unforgettable Mikaelsons. The Originals describes Lucien as an attractive vampire, so perhaps Rebekah may have a new love interest?

Finally, The Originals seem to be looking to give the human faction greater representation with the addition of Detective Will Kinney, who will start off from the position of unwitting lawman, lacking any knowledge of the supernatural forces populating The Originals‘ version of New Orleans. It remains to be seen how Detective Kinney will respond, once he finds out what he’s stepped in, but, hopefully, Cami will be there to guide him…and hide him from Klaus.

As for familiar faces, or names, Phoebe Tonkin wants to remind fans of The Originals that she is still lurking around the bayou, suffering under the Crescent Curse. According to The Originals‘ Tonkin, Hayley is still holding a grudge against Klaus.

“Hayley’s not going to be able to forgive him easily for what he’s done. Even if he did it for the good of his baby, I don’t think he did it in the right way. He should have let Hayley know that’s what he was doing so she could have been part of the plan. But he didn’t do that, so now, [she’s] pissed.”

Phoebe also revealed that she’ll be seen in fewer episodes of The Originals this season, due to the curse.

“Right now, we’re only going to see Hayley once a month. I hope that at least one episode will be the full day when I’m human. I’d also like to see Hayley in wolf form. I don’t know if we’ve seen that yet, and it could be really cool.”

When Hayley does defeat the curse and Phoebe Tonkin returns to The Originals as a series regular, there will still be a love triangle to resolve. Ms. Tonkin reveals that she hopes The Originals writing team will take their time in hashing out that subplot.

“It’s like There’s Something About Hayley, which is really fun,” The Originals star said. “I don’t know, they’re both great characters and they’re both amazing actors, so I’m just lucky that I get to work with both of them.”

The Originals will premiere on October 8 on the CW Network.
