‘Pregnant Man’ Announces Separation From Wife

The “Pregnant Man” Thomas Beatie has announced he is currently separated from his wife of 9 years. Beatie, 38, is the world’s first documented transgender male to give birth.

Beatie announced the separation on CBS program “The Doctors.” The show has previously aired interviews with Thomas and his family about his female-to-male surgery. Thomas, who was born Tracy Lagondino, said of the separation that:

“Like all marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we’re going through a rough patch right now. At the moment, we’re separated.”

Thomas Beatie originally gained fame in 2007 when pictures of him emerged displaying his pregnant belly. In all, the “Pregnant Man” has borne three children with wife Nancy, 49, who is unable to bear children following a hysterectomy. Nancy also has two children from a previous marriage.

Beatie, who was born in 1974, began testosterone injections in his twenties, which lowered his voice, changed his sexual organs, and also gave him facial hair. He has been through two gender reassignment surgeries, the first in 2002, which turned him into a legal man, but leaving his female sexual reproductive organs intact, so that the couple could have children.

His latest surgery has completed the reassignment process, so that he now possesses male organs. With all of the surgeries, as well as in-vitro fertilization, the Beaties were forced to file for bankruptcy. They have also received many death threats, forcing them to live a life of seclusion in Bend, Oregon.

Thomas Beatie, the “Pregnant Man” is optimistic that his marriage to Tracy will work out, despite the couple’s problems. He added that, “Nancy hasn’t seen the new me yet.”
