NASCAR Driver Swims With Sharks: Kasey Kahne Swims With Sharks For Shark Week 2015

NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne recently swam with sharks in honor of Shark Week 2015.

Khane, who will be racing the Shark Week-branded Great Clips Chevrolet SS car for the fourth time in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway, had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a group of sharks, and learn more about the fearsome animal highlighted by the Discovery Channel each year.

“I’ve been able to drive the Shark Week car three different times,” Kahne told Us Weekly. “[I’m] really looking forward to it again this year — and also finally actually getting to learn a little bit more about the sharks, swim with them, see what that’s like. I have no idea what it will be like down there!”

“I’ve watched a lot of Shark Week shows over the years,” he said. [So it will only be] “mildly terrifying!”

Last month, Khane and his girlfriend, Sam Sheets, announced that they were expecting their first child together, due in October, 2015.

Kahne admitted that he had always wanted children and can’t wait to experience the joys of fatherhood.

“I’ve always really wanted a kid. Absolutely,” Kahne told ESPN in June. “When I was growing up, I thought I’d have kids by the time I was 25. We’re 10 years past that now, of course. But once we found out, I realized how badly I wanted kids.

“It’s something that’s been on my mind for a long time,” he continued. “I’m really excited to have this type of life-changing experience, and I can’t wait to be the best dad I can possibly be.”

According to Fox News, there have been lots of baby announcements in the NASCAR garage lately. Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski became first time fathers in May. Kyle Larson welcomed his first child in December, two months after Clint Bowyer became a first-time father in October. In June, Trevor Bayne also announced that he and his wife were expecting. It looks like there will be a lot of future racers coming soon!

So, what did the NASCAR driver think about swimming in shark infested waters?

“I had a blast,” Kahne said. “So much different than I expected it to be.”
