‘The Young And The Restless’: Where Are They Now?

The Young and the Restless was first broadcast in 1973, and has understandably undergone several cast changes in the past four decades. It is only inevitable that such a long-standing soap opera will require new actors coming in and the old ones going out, but have you ever wondered where your favorite stars from the early years of The Young and the Restless are now?

Browse through the following list to find out what your favorite The Young and the Restless alumni have been up to lately.

Victoria Rowell

Victoria has had two stints on the famous soap opera, playing Drucilla Barber Winters from 1990-2000 and then again from 2002-2007. Lately, she has been busy authoring two books about her time at The Young and the Restless, letting us in on the secrets which prompted her to leave the show. She also teaches ballet and tours abroad teaching students to dance.

Michelle Stafford

One of the longest serving cast members at The Young and the Restless, Michelle played Phyllis Summers for 18 years. Stafford now stars on another long-standing soap opera, General Hospital, while a new actor has been cast in the role of now-Phyllis Newman. In an interview with Celeb Dirty Laundry, Stafford admitted that she left The Young and the Restless because of a fallout between her and Jill Farren Phelps, infamously nicknamed the “Soap Killer.”

Eva Longoria

Eva left The Young and the Restless in 2003 after playing Isabella Braña Williams for two years. Fans of Desperate Housewives will recognize her instantly, where she played one of the four main characters on the show, Gabrielle Mary Solis.

Barbara Crampton

You might have seen the former The Young and the Restless star screaming her lungs out in the horror comedy Re-Animator, where she gained notoriety for playing the role of the nubile co-ed Megan Halsey. This was after Barbara had been a part of The Young and the Restless as Leanna Love on-and-off for almost 12 years.

Alex Donnelley

Alex was the first actress to portray Diane Jenkins on The Young and the Restless, over a period of almost two decades. Recently, she was seen in the film Miss March, and she spends her time now raising her children.

Shemar Moore

For Moore, truly, The Young and the Restless was his training ground. He played Malcolm Winters for eight years, after which he went on to become a daytime star on American television. Then, what did he do? No prizes for guessing this one. He became a primetime star, yes, after he landed the role Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds.

Meg Bennett

Actors-turned-writers, anyone? Meg Bennett, who starred on The Young and the Restless as Julia Newman from 1980-87, now enjoys a successful screenwriting career.

Susan Seaforth Hayes

Susan played Joanna Manning on The Young and the Restless, first in the 1980s and then again in 2000s, but she still continues to play Julie Williams on Days of Our Lives — a role she has donned since 1968. Yes, before even Armstrong stepped on Moon.

Greg Vaughn

Another The Young and the Restless actor who also starred in Days of Our Lives, Greg now plays the role of Father Eric Brady on the daytime soap opera.

Patty Weaver

While most actors left The Young and the Restless to look for newer pastures or because of unmitigated fallouts, Patty Weaver left the show to participate in some of the most important telethons, in the process helping raise millions of dollars for charities.

Thom Bierdz

But some stars have had even stranger trajectories. The last on the list is Bierdz, who starred on The Young and the Restless as Phillip Chancellor III from 1986-89, and later went on to write a memoir called Forgiving Troy, where he chronicles his troubled relationship with his brother, who years ago had killed their mother with a baseball bat. Bierdz now makes a living as an artist, selling his services via social media.
