Kim Kardashian Strikes Back At Allegations She Is Using Botox While Pregnant

Health conscious mothers-to-be know the drill; when baby is on deck, it’s time to give up booze, caffeine, and a whole host of vices, for better or for worse. Kim Kardashian has been around the pregnancy block once before and, from outward appearances, it appears that she did a fine job bringing baby North into the world — with some help from daddy Kanye West, of course. But some folks aren’t giving Mrs. Kardashian-West the benefit of the doubt with respect to her current with-child status. This time around, some discerning star-watchers have expressed concern that Kim has been receiving cosmetic Botox treatments, given the appearance of swelling in her lips in some recent photos.

Botox is the trade name for botulinum toxin and it is often used for cosmetic purposes, including augmentation of tissues around the eyes and mouth. Use of Botox during pregnancy is generally discouraged, although specific risks to the unborn child are unclear.

For her part, Kim Kardashian vehemently denies that she is undergoing any type of facial enhancements during her pregnancy. In fact, she posted a lengthy rebuke to any such assertions via Instagram.

“No I don’t do fillers or botox when pregnant like some tabloids are reporting, you would have to be really sick to endanger your child like that!” Kim said in her Instagram post. “Anyone who has been pregnant or gained weight knows your face totally changes! My nose gets bigger, cheeks fuller & my lips swell up.”

The 34-year-old model and reality television star is now four months pregnant and recently celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary with husband Kanye West. Their daughter North West is two-years-old. Xpose recently published some of Kim’s reflections on her relationship with Kanye. Despite the pressures of their high-profile relationship, Kim expressed contentment and gratitude for the current course of things.

”You can’t expect me to jump up onstage and start singing — it’s not what I do… The makeover Kanye has given me is amazing,” said Kim. ”[Kanye] obviously moves to his own drum. He lives his life the way he wants, a really authentic life, and he was like, ‘If you can’t be authentic and you can’t live your life, what do you have?”’

Photographers caught the power couple arriving at a studio in Van Nuys, California, earlier this week for Kim’s session of “video confessional” shoots for the next season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Video posted by X17 Online caught Kanye giving Kim a hand out of her luxury SUV.

A look at Kim’s disclosures via social media seem to affirm her assertions of a happy home. Cambio recently shared some of Kim’s lighthearted posts about North’s insistence that she go out and about in an interesting ensemble that included a superfluous Minnie Mouse crash helmet.

Ultimately, the spirit of compromise carried the day as mother and daughter managed to hit the streets with North sporting a more toned-down ensemble.

It’s a safe bet that Kim’s disclosures about child-rearing strike a familiar chord with many fans and admirers. Indeed, while it’s probably tough for most folks to relate to matters like Botox injections and paparazzi, at the end of the day it seems that Kim Kardashian and her family have little difficulty in appreciating the simple joys that grace happy homes everywhere.
