WWE News: WWE Looking To Bring Chris Jericho In For More TV Spots, Jericho Needing Bookings For Promotion?

WWE Superstar Chris Jericho has been with WWE off and on for the last year. Instead of doing televised matches, Jericho likes to do live events. He prefers doing them because he can get the thrill of wrestling in front of the live crowd, but also not have to be constricted by timing and storyline material. At live events, wrestlers can just wrestle. So there is a thrill there that many are considering over doing WWE RAW or WWE SmackDown in their older age. Even Batista has considered such an idea.

Here’s the problem with Jericho personally doing this: By not being on TV, he is hurting himself. According to Daily Wrestling News, concert promoters were concerned about Jericho’s lengthy time away from the screen. When Chris Jericho is on TV, he is relevant. When he is not, it leads to issues like potential live audience problems for concerts. Jericho’s appeal as a wrestler still does help him in bringing people to his Fozzy shows. While Fozzy does have its own audience as well, there are more wrestling fans in the world than Fozzy fans.

This is the main reason Chris Jericho ended up with the WWE Tough Enough hosting position. He fought big time for it. This adds to his billing as a current television star. Jericho was also on the recent Beast in the East WWE Network special from Japan, where he wrestled Neville. While Jericho still does not want to commit to WWE programming outside of Tough Enough or be part of any storyline angles, he does want to be on TV as much as possible.

WWE wants to add him to more dates, however. He is working for less money than his previous runs, and he is getting great responses on the live event tours he is on. Jericho enjoys the freedom he has right now because he can show up to wrestle whenever and then still be able to commit to Fozzy. While WWE does want to add more bookings to Jericho’s run, they may not be able to do so.

Chris Jericho could always just show up on a random WWE RAW, but for now, he is doing just fine with being on WWE Tough Enough each Tuesday. At the end of the day, WWE may be able to pull a few more live event dates from Jericho, but the entire reason he took the live events was due to the freedom it provided. It wouldn’t make sense to take a lot more, or he would be better of going back to TV and committing full time again.
