‘Macy’s 4th Of July Fireworks Spectacular’ Start Time, How To Watch Live Online

What time does the 2015 Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular start, and how can you watch it live online? The annual holiday event takes place in New York City, but you can watch from the comfort of your couch — or at your Independence Day party — on NBC TV, or live streaming online.

The show starts at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Saturday, with musical performances by Ed Sheeran, Brad Paisley, Kelly Clarkson, Flo Rida, Meghan Trainor, and Dierks Bentley. The show will end with a bang, with NBC reporting that over 50,000 pyrotechnics will be fired off of five barges in New York City, with a display will light up the sky fireworks display.

If you aren’t home to watch the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on your local NBC TV channel, catch the star-studded lineup of performers and the Independence Day fireworks on your iPhone, Android smartphone, laptop computer or tablet using the NBC Live Extra app.

The app is free to download, but the only catch is that viewers must have a pay-TV subscription to one of more than 15 providers including Verizon FiOs, ATT-UVerse, Comcast, and COX.

Once you download the Live Extra app, you will be asked to verify that you have service with one of the providers on this list. Most users will be prompted to login to their cable account, so have your username and password ready, and do the verification before the Macy’s show starts on Saturday night.

Saturday night’s show will be hosted by TODAY show co-hosts Willie Geist and Tamron hall, with musical performances starting at 8 p.m., followed by the fireworks display during the second hour.

This is the 39th year that Macy’s has sponsored this big event to celebrate our nation’s birthday, making its debut back in 1976 to commemorate the nation’s Bicentennial. The televised event was watched by millions across the nation, with the New York harbor said to be “more brilliant than Broadway” during the celebration in 1976.

This year’s show will be one of the biggest fireworks displays in the country, with more than 50,000 pyrotechnic shells and special effects fired from five different barges located in Midtown Manhattan and under the Brooklyn Bridge.

If you miss the two-hour Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular at 8 p.m., tune in at 10 p.m. ET/PT for a one-hour encore presentation of the show.
