Wiz Khalifa Fan Arrested For Wanting To Be Like Him

Wiz Khalifa has had a fantastic run on the Billboard 100 after his “See You Again” song topped the charts for the 11th week. According to Billboard, the song is just a week shy of setting a record for the rap single with the longest stay on top of the charts.

But apart from this fantastic single, which was specifically made to be a Paul Walker tribute and featured Charlie Puth, Wiz Khalifa’s songs are typically rife with references of smoking weed as a lifestyle.

Apparently, this is not a marketing gimmick. According to Esquire, which referenced a recent visit to Wiz Khalifa’s room in Aspen, Colorado, the following was the spectacle.

“When exiting the elevator, the smell is unmistakable: weed. Pungent. Floral. The good stuff. The source? Wiz Khalifa’s room here in Aspen… Upon entering it, you’re greeted by five of his traveling cohorts, and what appears to be nearly a half-pound of marijuana spread out on the table like a Thanksgiving harvest. ‘Gimme that bong!’ Khalifa says, lighting its bowl and filling up the clear glass chamber with enough pot smoke so that it resembles a small jug of milk.”

Wiz Khalifa is said to be following in the footsteps of Snoop Dogg, who he is said to have admired because of his rap style and weed-smoking, according to the Huffington Post. Of course, with Wiz Khalifa’s large following, it is inevitable that some of his fans may feel inspired to adapt a similar “stoner” lifestyle.

However, living like that has its consequence, and Wiz Khalifa’s numerous arrests for possessing marijuana are a testament. For example, in 2010, Wiz Khalifa was charged with possession of marijuana after performing at an event in Eastern Carolina University, North Carolina.

Having previously bragged about spending about $10,000 each month on cannabis, Wiz Khalifa’s run-in with the authorities in regards to it was no surprise. Wiz Khalifa, however, later on cautioned his fans about adopting a similar way of life on MTV. This is what Wiz Khalifa said.

“I don’t say, ‘Yo, get up and do that.’ I said that’s what I do, and I tell you what I do while I’m doing it. I’m not trying to push drugs on anybody… I thought weed was bad for a minute… When I was younger, I thought it was bad, but I got to a point where it worked for me. It don’t work for everybody else. People gotta stay free, people need jobs, people got parents that probably wouldn’t be with it, so don’t ruin your life trying to be like me. That’s my advice.”

Wiz Khalifa was also arrested in 2012 and 2014 for related issues.

Wiz Khalifa’s warning seems to have been overlooked by one of his teen fans, who was recently arrested in Springfield after being found with a bag full of marijuana. He told the police that his only intention was to brag to his friends and also “be like Wiz Khalifa,” but not to sell it. This is as reported by News Leader.

Prosecutors found it to be unlikely that anyone actually needs as much weed as Wiz Khalifa for personal use. Possessions found in his car included sandwich bags, digital scales, cigarillos, and $400.

If convicted, the suspect, Kenneth E. Fewell, faces up to 15 years in jail.
