‘The View’ Prepared To Get Rid Of Rosie Perez And Nicolle Wallace?

This just in: The View might be planning to axe co-panelists Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, at least not when Rosie Perez is considered. Perez has been on and off The View, as she’s been on Larry David’s Broadway play, Fish in the Dark.

During the time where she was doing rehearsals, it was leaked that ABC was looking to axe Rosie. This is when Rosie O’Donnell was still on the show. After the news leaked that Perez was going to be fired and replaced by Glee’s Naya Rivera, Rosie O’Donnell seemed bewildered about the news, which had hit every corner of the web at that point. Although the network didn’t announce they were getting rid of her, apparently, there were talks. Once the news leaked, ABC was in fear of “an Ann Curry situation” and backed off from firing Rosie.

The huge problem back then is that ABC didn’t tell any of the other co-panelists about the change. At the time, ABC said, “These unnamed sources are wrong. As was always the plan, the amazingly talented Rosie Perez took time off to rehearse for her Broadway play. We’re eagerly looking forward to having her back on February 3rd. Any speculation to the contrary is simply untrue.”

Looks like ABC was just biding their time to fire Perez. According to Variety, ABC will once again reboot The View after it has suffered in the ratings. Although it’s not official that Rosie and Nicolle Wallace are on their way out, it looks like it’s going to happen. “One or both women could be dropped because network execs are underwhelmed with their contributions to the show’s signature Hot Topics segment, which is expected to shift focus permanently toward more lighthearted celebrity fluff.”

It’s said that Whoopi Goldberg will remain as moderator. Raven Symone, who recently got a permanent job on the panel, will remain on the show. Reps for both Perez and Wallace couldn’t be reached.

A possibility of a replacement is Michelle Collins, who has been tested several times while on the panel. That said, the show will also have fill-in co-panelists, which The View has been trying out since Rosie O’Donnell left for good.

What do you think about the changes that are set to come?
