Betty White Joins ‘Tell The Truth’ With NeNe Leakes In The ‘Real Housewives’ Star’s First Big Break

Betty White is bringing back the 1950s, and she’s taking Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes along with her.

The 93-year-old actress and comedian has been picked as a panelist on the revival of Tell The Truth, a 1950s game show in which three people all claim to be the same person with a remarkable job or achievement. The panelists get to ask questions of the three, and the contestant gets to guess which one is really the person in question.

The show has already gotten some early attention, Deadline noted, with Anthony Anderson signing on to host and his mom Doris serving as scorekeeper.

Tell The Truth represents yet another mark in the late-career revival for Betty White, who has seen a lead in the sitcom Hot In Cleveland and led a Saturday Night Live special. But it also represents what is the first big break for NeNe Leakes, who is stepping outside the reality television realm for the first time.

It was just this week that Leakes announced she would be leaving Real Housewives of Atlanta.

“Being part of RHOA has been a big part of my life but I’m excited for new the beginnings I am pursuing and embarking upon. Thank you so much to everyone who has watched and supported me over the years on this amazing platform,” Leakes told Us Weekly in a statement on Monday. “With lots of thought and prayer I’ve decided to step out on faith and not fear.”

Leakes said she put a lot of thought into her decision, but hinted that joining Betty White on Tell The Truth was too good a chance to pass up.

“This was definitely a hard decision for me,” Leakes announced. “Me and my husband (Gregg Leakes) have been going back and forth on it for weeks now. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time. This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things.”

There had actually been some hope and speculation that NeNe Leakes could be returning to Real Housewives, at least in a smaller role, but her new gig with Betty White would seem to make that difficult. The show will tape in Los Angeles in front of a live audience while Real Housewives of Atlanta films miles away.

NeNe Leakes and Betty White will start work on Tell The Truth soon, and a premiere date has not yet been announced.
