‘Fear The Walking Dead’: New Character Announced And A Sneak Peek Into Episode 1 [Spoiler]

WARNING: Spoilers about the pilot episode of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead are contained within this article. Proceed with caution.

AMC’s new zombie spin-off series, Fear The Walking Dead, has a new character. Cynthia Rose Hall (best known for her roles in television series Sons of Anarchy, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Bold and the Beautiful) has joined the cast, although details of her character are unknown yet.

According to The Wrap, who made the exclusive announcement, Cynthia Rose Hall will be joining the cast of Fear The Walking Dead. However, as yet, AMC are keeping the details of her role under wraps. IMDb have not released any details of her role either.

It is unclear if Cynthia Rose Hall will be in Season 1 or 2. AMC has already announced Fear The Walking Dead will run for a short six episode Season 1 and then segue into a full length 16 episode Season 2 beginning in 2016. As is typical with the show it is based on, The Walking Dead, Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead will be split up into two stints of eight episodes with a short hiatus in between. This will mean Season 2 will premiere in 2016, but the second half of the season will conclude in 2017.

While AMC’s original program, The Walking Dead started after the outbreak had occurred, Fear The Walking Dead is anticipated to begin just prior to the outbreak in order to give fans a chance to see how everything erupted while Rick Grimes was in his coma.

Although, with the first pilot review coming in from Season Zero, it looks like we may get the very first episode commencing with the outbreak rather than before it. Season Zero explains that Episode 1 of Fear The Walking Dead opens with Nick waking in a house he shouldn’t be in and the memory of one of his friends eating another. This is what leads to his dash to escape as seen in a recent teaser video entitled “Nick’s Escape.” The reviewer likened Travis (played by Cliff Curtis) to Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead and wasn’t sure if its companion show was going to stand independently like anticipated. They also posted the following description on the pilot episode:

“When her drug-addict teenage son Nick is found in shock in the middle of the street as if he has just seen a ghost, Madison Bennett tries to understand what happened to him, with the help of her daughter Alicia and her fiancé Travis Posada. They discover it might be linked to the mysterious illness that is spreading at a fast rate in the city of Los Angeles for a few days and inevitably all around the globe soon…”

Along with the announcement of Cynthia Rose Hall joining the cast of Fear The Walking Dead, there has been a flurry of promotional stills, San Diego Comic Con details and short teaser sneak peek videos over the last few weeks as the lead up to both the San Diego Comic Con and the Fear The Walking Dead premiere approach.

Fear The Walking Dead will premiere in August on AMC. It is anticipated the start date will be announced next week at their panel at the San Diego Comic Con on Saturday July 11, 2015.
