Young Thug has become one of the most promising hip-hop artists in recent times. That said, Young Thug has also been involved in quite a few controversies, which include his ongoing beef with Lil Wayne.
It intensified after Young Thug announced the name of his upcoming mixtape to be Carter VI.
This was before Wayne, who has a series of Tha Carter albums, could release Carter V. According to an interview on NDO Radio, Young Thug stated the following about his endeavor.
“I’m gonna drop one more mixtape before my album. The album is called Hy!£UN35 (HiTunes)… I’m gonna drop one more mixtape. I’ll probably name it Carter V, because the original Carter V still ain’t came out. I don’t know what the f**k they’re doing – slow poking. So I’m gonna put that motherf****r out for him.”
This is according to All Hiphop.
Young Thug later on ditched the name to avoid a lawsuit from Lil Wayne, calling the project Barter 6 instead. This is what Young Thug said about the decision at the time as reported by MTV.
“Can’t name the mixtape Carter 6 because these f**k a** n****s tryin’ to sue just like some h**s.”
On their feud, Inquisitr reports that it may be coming to its climax on July 4 when Young Thug releases his Slime Season mixtape and Lil Wayne his Free Weezy album.
Presently, Young Thug has hinted that he may be working on a new album with Kanye West. This is according to an interview with Rolling Out. Describing their relationship and their first meeting, Young Thug said that apparently, Kanye likens him to Bob Marley.
“We [were] backstage at one of the tour dates at the Staples Center in L.A. and Kanye was backstage. He had a Beats Pill and was like, ‘I wanna hear all of your music in the world that’s not out.’ So I was letting him hear all the music. Then he said I was like Bob Marley and he wanted to do an album with me. I was like, ‘Let’s roll!’ He’s a fan. So that leads back to me saying fans are the main reason you stay motivated and become who you want to be. Kanye is like my brother, but he’s a real fan. He bought me some Yeezys and went on eBay to get them for me. That’s motivation.”
