After ten years of marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are finally getting a divorce. The glamorous couple got married in 2005 and have three children together.
People has confirmed that Ben and Jennifer's split is final.
The magazine also reported that the Affleck and Garner are making the decision after "careful consideration" and "much thought."
People quoted them saying, "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children, whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."
Ben Affleck, 42, and Jennifer Garner, 43, started dating back in 2003 when they met on the set of Daredevil. Both the actors were playing superheroes in the popular TV series. Two years later, they tied the knot.
Sources with close links to the couple have said that Affleck and Garner's divorce is "amicable." The two will be enjoying joint custody of their three children.
According to reports, Ben Affleck will continue living on the couple's joint property in a separate accommodation.
Prior to marrying Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner had a four-year marriage with actor Scott Foley. They separated in 2003, and their divorce became final one year later.
Last year, Jennifer Garner said to InStyle Magazine that her marriage was in a "mindful" stage. She had added that they were both making efforts to spend time together and to be loving towards each other.
There has been widespread media scrutiny about the state of their marriage. In 2013, while accepting the Oscars for Argo, Affleck, in his speech, referred to their marriage as "work." He added that it was "the best kind of work" and there is no one else he would rather work with.
When the media asked Garner about Affleck's comment, she said that she knew Affleck meant it as a compliment. Garner said that she felt what he really wanted to say was, "Look, what we have is really real and I value it above all and I'm in it with you."
Time reported that pictures of the couple spending family time together appeared frequently in the media. Many saw it as a projection to cover-up the discontent underneath.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner wish to keep their divorce private and have requested the media to respect the privacy of their family.
The actors confirmed the news of their divorce on Tuesday. It was just one day after their 10th anniversary.
