Kevin Love Rumors: LA Lakers Have Meeting With All-Star Free Agent
Kevin Love rumors have the All-Star power forward meeting with the LA Lakers. Love will meet with the Lakers this week, with the possibility he could make a return to Los Angeles. As a report from ESPN late Tuesday states, Love played for UCLA when he was in college and currently lives there during the NBA offseason. A return to Los Angeles seems like it would work quite well for one of the most sought-after free agents on the market.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Love isn’t the only free agent that is in line to meet with the Lakers. The team is currently scheduled to meet with LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan, and Greg Monroe. That’s only the big men, and doesn’t even cover the guards like Rajon Rondo that could also pay a visit to Los Angeles. The team doesn’t have nearly enough money for all of them, so it could get interesting to see which ones move to the front of the line when it comes to contract offers.
It’s no secret that the Cleveland Cavaliers are the other team in hot pursuit of Kevin Love this offseason, and rumors have the Cavs ready to offer him a max deal. It might be in his best interest to return to a team that still has LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, especially since it could take a lot of pressure off of him. What the Cavs need to continue doing this offseason, though, is proving to Love that there will be more talent than just a “big three” for the 2015-16 NBA season.
When it comes to Love, Cleveland.com reports that the Cavaliers have already prepared five-year offers for him and LeBron James. The team wants to do everything possible to return to the NBA Finals, and that includes keeping the core of the team intact. After dealing No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Love, the front office doesn’t want to see him get away for nothing in return. It could be tough if the Lakers offer him that leadership role he would never get in Cleveland.
There is still a lot of time until NBA free agents can actually sign with new teams. That date falls on July 9, meaning there is plenty of time for even more Kevin Love rumors to rise to the surface. Quite a few other teams, including the Boston Celtics, could use a talent like his, so there might be other meetings coming.
