WWE News: Big Update On WWE 2K16 Having 120 Playable Characters

For gamers all over the world, Fall is the best time for new releases. During this time, WWE’s highly-acclaimed game always comes out. Last year, WWE 2K15 received good reviews, largely in part of the roster assembled, and the “WWE Showcase” mode was a popular part of the game. CM Punk and John Cena, as well as Shawn Michaels and Triple H, headlined the new game mode.

Now, WWE 2K16 is rumored to have one mode that will get the classic fans of WWE going. In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, WWE 2K16 will include a Stone Cold Steve Austin Attitude Era-themed mode in the game. There’s no confirmation if it will replace the WWE Showcase mode, but having something in there that involves Austin is a win-win for WWE fans.

That isn’t the biggest news 2K developers already released. Every year, there’s an outcry for more wrestlers to be featured on the game. Fact is, WWE developers can’t always get everybody in. It takes a lot of time, mapping, commitments from the wrestlers themselves, and memory on the game itself. This year, WWE 2K16 changed the game.

According to WrestleZone.com, WWE 2K16 will feature 120-plus wrestlers, and none of them will be duplicates. For those that don’t believe 2K developers that this year’s roster will be the largest of all-time, they put on Twitter to solidify the claim.

Now that it is confirmed by WWE 2K developers, WWE fans can already start to plan which WWE stars they will use first. The biggest news out of that tweet is the fact that all 120 stars will come with the game. Normally, half of the roster are unlockable characters or DLC. Instead, WWE 2K15 will probably have the duplicates, or different skins, be available through unlockables and DLC.

WWE video games have transitioned into the next generation with enhanced graphics, more realistic storylines, and the specialty modes included. WWE Showcase really got in-depth with the true story of CM Punk and John Cena. Along the way, WWE offered DLC storylines, as well.

It sounds like WWE 2K developers are stepping it up a notch for this year’s game. As of now, the entire roster isn’t confirmed. A few of the WWE superstars who are included are Dean Ambrose, John Cena, and Finn Balor. As far as the WWE NXT roster is concerned, one can think a lot of the WWE NXT stars will be in the game.
