WWE News: Vince McMahon Heavily In Favor Of John Cena Vs Hulk Hogan At WrestleMania 32?

WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon is known for doing things that may seem weird to fans of the day, but he at least knows how to do it in a way that makes you at least somewhat interested to see how it turns out.

The same can be said about WrestleMania 32. Vince wants the show to be huge. The main thing he is planning as a goal is to sell out the AT&T near Dallas, Texas. This is where the Dallas Cowboys play football games, and it is considered one of the biggest stadiums in the United States.

It is beautiful, state of the art stadium. This makes it a big destination for several sporting events, so clearly WWE had to end up having an event here one day. WrestleMania 32 is the perfect show for WWE to come in with. Vince wants it to be huge, so he planning some big matches for the show from The Rock vs Brock Lesnar to a potential Shield triple threat.

However, one of the biggest matches being rumored is Hulk Hogan making his return to the ring against John Cena. Last year Hogan tried everything he could to get a program going so that he could wrestle at WrestleMania 31. It was not successful. According to Daily Wrestling News, the match with Cena seems quite possible for Hogan. Cena is said to be on board with it. This is possibly the most surprising part of it all.

Hogan and Cena have quite the historical similarities. John Cena and Hulk Hogan were on top of WWE for the better part of their careers. Hulk Hogan main evented several WrestleMania events, but John Cena has main evented more and even won more World Titles at WrestleMania than Hogan. Historically, just by statistics, John Cena has had a better career than Hogan and Cena is still readily active in WWE.

Meanwhile, Hogan was great but he is in his 60’s. By WrestleMania 32, he’d be 62 years old. Cena is nearing 40 years of age, but that in no way means he is done in WWE. Cena believably could go another 5 years and remain as good as he is now. Hogan cannot. Very few want to see him come back for another match. His age is a big part of that, but the fact is that Hogan was also never known as a great ring worker when he was in his prime.

Expecting Hogan to put on a good match with the same skill set today would not go over well. Even if he was in his prime. Many say that John Cena is a more evolved Hulk Hogan. Cena is the Hogan of this generation, clearly. So the match in theory sounds great. However, this is not the WWE 2K video we’re talking about. You have a guy near 20 years older attempting to believably beat a man that has held 15 World Titles in WWE and still looks great.

It just does not make sense. Should Vince McMahon want this? Most WWE fans would say no. If Hogan was in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal, it would be fine. However, he should not have a one on one match. We will have to see what WWE does with John Cena and Hulk Hogan, but do not be surprised if WWE goes with the two facing off….regardless of what we might want as fans.
