Kevin Smith: Weight Loss Of 85 Pounds Credited To Sugar-Free Diet & ‘Fed Up’ Film After Told Too Fat For Plane

Kevin Smith is proud of his 85-pound weight loss. The actor and director is opening up about how he shed the excess pounds and improved his health. And as Kevin admits, part of the motivation for his diet and exercise regimen resulted from feeling humiliated about his weight, reported MSN.

Sharing a photo from 2008 and contrasting it with a recent shot, Kevin made it clear that he has changed his clothing size and his body image. Smith’s weight loss before-and-after photos include his offspring.

“Left: me & my kid in 2008. Right: 2 weeks ago, 85 pounds later. I shan’t wear pants and will never abort the shorts,” wrote the actor.

Kevin revealed that he made the decision to battle his bulge in 2010. A Southwest Airlines plane forced him to exit because of his obesity, which precluded his ability to fit into one seat. Irate, Smith attacked the plane company on social media, but then decided to use it as weight loss motivation.

Kevin credits the 2014 documentary, Fed Up, with guiding him to his current sugar-free lifestyle.

“Awesome documentary, an anti-sugar documentary that completely changed my perception,” admitted Smith. “So then I watch this documentary last year, and I was, like, ‘Oh, man, um, I really don’t wanna die’ – and I’m already 44-years-old.”

The Fed Up Web site contains a challenge to visitors.

“The Fed Up Challenge is a national campaign to break loose from the sugar industry’s powerful grip – with a particular focus on kids and schools! We’re asking individuals, kids, schools, parents and communities to join us in going sugar free for 10 days. Giving up sugar will be tough because sugar is everywhere and we all crave it, but setting that kind of healthy example for your kids is all the inspiration you’ll need to get through.”

In addition to eliminating sugar, Smith exercised and sipped green juice, reported E! News.

“My ‘working out’ is I’ve got this hill outside my house—like, right outside my house, you walk out the door and—boom!—you’re on this hill, so I’ll take my dogs out and see who starts breathing heavy and sweating first,” revealed Kevin.

As the Inquisitr reported, Kate Hudson also credits her own sleek physique to a sugar-free diet and regime of green juice.

“You got to eat right,” declared the former Glee star. “I always say that and you know, it’s like everybody wants some sort of secret and there just isn’t.”
