Britney Spears Fires Back At Iggy Azalea: ‘You Want A Piece Of Me?’ [Video]
The “Pretty Girls” are starting to get ugly. The public drama started with Iggy Azalea blaming Britney Spears for “Pretty Girls” failure to rise to the top of the charts. Azalea pressed the issue, when she explained to Twitter followers that Spears’ failure to help promote the song was to blame.
“Pretty Girls” only reached as far as number 29 on the Billboard Top 100 chart.
The allegation came from Iggy, following one fan’s observation that “Pretty Girls” didn’t perform well.
“@rhuancesarr its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately im just featured…”
Matters escalated, as Spears’ Twitter fans came across the slight and immediately took their offense public. As the media began to spread the rising conflict between Azalea and Spears, Iggy again took to Twitter with a response that further inflamed the situation.
“@ThePopZone my comment is factual, it applies to any song. I dont have to s–k the woman’s a—-le 24/7 to be her friend, do i? bye girls.”
It seems Iggy took some time to cool off and made a public apology to Britney on Twitter.
“@itsGsusB***h im not attacking anyone. all i said was: i wish we had promoted more but thats out of my control. shes a good friend.”
“Genuine friends have genuine opinions,” she added in a follow-up tweet. “Its possible & healthy to have a differing thought without it being bitchy or shade.”
While Azalea may have genuinely felt sorry for her posts, apologies and clarifications weren’t being heard by newly single Britney. In fact, Britney had some choice words of her own for Iggy.

While Britney’s response might have been mild, Spears’ fans quickly picked up on the hashtag.
“That’s it Britney Shade Iggy. Shade her,” Twitter user IamAlejandroCh offered.
“Iggy who?” said another fan.
It wasn’t just the hashtag that sent Britney’s fans into a frenzy over the exchanges. Spears mentioning her Las Vegas residency was also a dig at Iggy Azalea’s lack of concerts, something Britney’s fans were all too eager to pick up on in the comments.
One reason for Azalea’s lack of shows may have something to do with the controversy surrounding her public statements. Azalea had to cancel an appearance at Pittsburgh Pridefest, following one such statement.
“When guys whisper in each others ears I always think that’s kinda homo,” Azalea tweeted.
While Iggy may not have anything to do, maybe she can catch a Britney Spears concert. Spears will be performing Britney: Piece of Me at The Axis at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
