Meghan McCain Fires Back At ‘Proud Christians Trolling’ After Marriage Equality
Meghan McCain, the daughter of Senator John McCain, and herself blogger and columnist, is a supporter of marriage equality. A lot of people who follow her, however, do not. This week, she’s posted some pretty strong support of the Supreme Court ruling, and strongly advised Republicans and conservatives to get on board. That hasn’t gone over so well with some folks.
As a result, on Sunday morning, two mornings after the Supreme Court ruled on the question of whether same-sex couples have the right to marry across the nation, McCain found herself getting some pretty nasty tweets. Fortunately, she knew exactly how to shut them down.
Following the marriage equality decision, Meghan McCain posted this on Instagram.

She also posted on Twitter.
An incredible historic day I will one day tell my grandchildren. Thank you to everyone who fought so hard for this for so long #LoveWins

Welcome to the right side of history, America!! #LoveWins
— Meghan McCain (@MeghanMcCain) June 26, 2015
Also, Republicans #LoveWins. This is the future and everyone better now finally get in line.

Of course, Meghan began seeing a lot of negativity, which she started retweeting. Sometimes, public exposure is enough to put a stop to rude comments. Thanks to profanity and crude descriptors of her anatomy, only two of the several Meghan retweeted can be reproduced below.
Get lost, fascist. https://t.co/xC5Na3NjBW #tcot

@MeghanMcCain Or what, off to the gulag for my thought crimes? You are a disgusting, anti-liberty progressive.

On Saturday, the attack tweets continues, but Meghan was no longer retweeting.
Also, Republicans #LoveWins. This is the future and everyone better now finally get in line.

@MeghanMcCain STFU, trollop.

Sunday morning, the tweeted attacks were still going — many of them personal attacks, rather than disagreements with Meghan’s political stance.
@MeghanMcCain Get in line? Is that a demand from the tolerant left? Here’s one for you. Get in the kitchen. #McCainReject

@Pissed_Pat It looks like @MeghanMcCain has been “getting in line” for the buffet quite a bit lately…

By then, though, Meghan McCain must’ve been getting tired of some of the nastier tweets, and decided it was time to call the abusers out.
To all the “proud Christians” trolling me this Sunday morning about my support for marriage equality, aren’t you supposed to be at church?
— Meghan McCain (@MeghanMcCain) June 28, 2015
Okay, no, it didn’t stop the abuse — that’s still coming, and probably isn’t going to stop sosn. Still, Meghan McCain put her attackers in the public eye and called them out on their behavior.
