Cricket fans can watch live online as the Caribbean Premier League plays its eighth match of 2015 on Sunday, when the St. Lucia Zouks host the Jamaica Tallawahs, led by West Indies heayy-hitting international Chris Gayle. But while the Zouks are unbeaten in three matches with two wins and a washout no-result, Gayle's Jamaica side have lost the only game they've played so far.
To find out how to watch Day Eight of the Caribbean Premier League St. Lucia Zouks vs. Jamaica Tallawahs match live online, consult the information in the final paragraph of this article. First ball is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time at Beausejour Cricket Ground in Gris Islet, St. Lucia — that's the same as United States Eastern Time, and 1 p.m. Pacific Time.
The Tallawahs will need a better performance from their captain than Gayle was able to produce in his team's opening match against the Barbados Tridents on Tuesday.
Gayle, who averages more than 43 runs per wicket in his T20 cricket career, was caught out for just nine against Barbados — with the catch made by the 23-year-old West Indies one-day Captain Jason Holder, who led Gayle and the West Indies side to the quarterfinals of the Cricket World Cup in March.
Gayle's side lost that match by 16 runs, but the Jamaica-born skipper remained optimistic about his team's chances in St. Lucia.
"We know the conditions pretty well here. I also usually make good scores here so I'm not worried at all. We're just one game in," he said, leading up to the Beausejour Cricket Ground showdown.Gayle has not played for the West Indies team since they fell to New Zealand in that World Cup quarterfinal, taking a pass on the team's two Test series against visiting England and Australia, choosing instead to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League and then Somerset in England's NatWest T20 Blast before returning to his Jamaica home to rejoin the Caribbean Premier League.
Meanwhile, on the St. Lucia side, opening batsman Andre Fletcher sees his CPL campaign as a way to make his case for selection to the West Indies World T20 in India next March.
"I would just say I'm very confident. I'm backing myself," said the Grenada native who currently leads the Caribbean Premier League with 141 runs. "I've been playing plenty of cricket back home and I'm in a bit of form so I just hope it continues until the (CPL) final. I want to have a good tournament so that I can see myself being a pick for the T20 World cup next year. The crowd's got me charged!"
