‘The Watcher’: New Jersey Family Forced Out Of Their Home, Neighbor Has New Information, Lawsuit Tells A Horrifying Story

A tormentor known only as “The Watcher” forced a New Jersey family out of their dream home. Derek and Maria Broaddus spent $1.3 million on a house at 657 Boulevard, Westfield, New Jersey. Three days after the Broaddus family closed on their new home, “The Watcher” made contact.

The New Jersey family received letters from “The Watcher.” The letters claim that the house the Broaddus’ bought has been under the care of his family for multiple generations. “The Watcher” explains in the letter that his previous relatives would ask the past homeowners for blood. “The Watcher” implies that he is taking his name literally and has asked questions about the Broaddus’ children, asking if they will be in the basement playing and who is going to be in which rooms. Another letter implied that something is hidden inside the house.

“Have they found what is in the walls yet? In time they will. I am pleased to know your names and the names now of the young blood you have brought to me.”

Taking these letters as threats, the family fled their home. The New Jersey family was so terrified that they never spent one night in the dream home that has become their nightmare. The Broaddus family has filed a lawsuit against John and Andrea Woods, the Chicago Title Insurance Company, A Absolute Escrow Settlement Company, and “The Watcher.” The lawsuit can be read here.

The lawsuit claims that the previous homeowners, John and Andrea Woods, failed to disclose that a terrorist also claimed ownership of the property and that this terrorist could potentially be a threat to the Broaddus family.

A neighbor has now come forward with new information on “The Watcher.” The neighbor claims that letters from “The Watcher” were not coming from Westfield, New Jersey, but from Newark, New Jersey. The neighbor has claimed to have first-hand experience with these letters based on their relationship with the Woods, police investigations, and from the Broaddus family. The neighbor states that the letters were not handwritten. The neighbor also gave a quote to Gawker.

“In my opinion the police did nothing. The police didn’t seem concerned.”

“The Watcher” case has been an open investigation for the Westfield police for over a year. Police do not have any leads as to the identity or location of “The Watcher.” Mayor Andrew Skibitsky commented on this case at a recent town hall meeting.

“Our police have conducted an exhaustive investigation into the threatening letters. Our police went the extra measure and left no stone unturned.”

What are your thoughts on “The Watcher” and this New Jersey family?
