Moldy McDonald’s Burger Goes Viral After Customer Complaint

A McDonald’s customer who received a moldy burger decided to share his disgusting meal with the world, and the picture has instantly gone viral.

Thirty-three-year-old Edward Porter stopped into a McDonald’s to get some grub, only to be greeted with a mound of blue, fuzzy mold on top of his bun when he examined it. You can check out an image of Porter’s Facebook post, as well as a closer look at his disgusting meal, below.

Porter, who bought the burger from Holborn in Central London, wrote out to his followers.

“So I was served this burger at McDonald’s in Holborn. Look at the mould on the bun… Having complained, they sent me £15 vouchers. I said to them that I would go viral with the pictures, so here we go… I wonder how the power of social media could affect them?”

Since then the post has been shared 31,000 times, and Porter has even been discussing the details around his purchase with several media outlets. In fact, Porter revealed just how close he came to actually biting into the burger, as he explained to the Daily Mail.

“I saw it immediately when I sat down. I was about to bite it; I had it in my hand and then saw it out of the corner of my eye.”

Porter immediately presented the burger to the deputy manager, who offered him a refund and a new burger. However, even though he took the new burger, Porter soon started to exchange emails with the senior customer services manager, Rhonda Floyd.

Porter wanted to be compensated accordingly by McDonald’s, and he explained that he gave Rhonda plenty of time to “compensate” him a suitable sum before he then took “further legal action, informed the press, and went viral across social media.”

After he received a further £15 in vouchers, Porter then decided enough was enough and he posted it on social media.

Porter admits that he took this route because he was unimpressed with Rhonda Floyd’s response to his request.

“I said to her that I thought her response was patronising, and I said you need to compensate me properly,” he recalled.

The problem is, Mr. Porter doesn’t really know how much money he wants.

“I have no idea what fair [compensation] is in these matters, ” he admitted. “So I will leave it to McDonald’s. I haven’t asked for a specific sum.”
