‘I Dough I Dough’: Ben & Jerry’s Renames Ice Cream Flavor To ‘I Dough I Dough’ In Celebration Of Supreme Court Marriage Equality Ruling

Ben & Jerry’s has named one of their favorite ice cream flavors “I Dough, I Dough” to celebrate the supreme court’s marriage equality ruling.
The Vermont-based ice cream company chose to rename their iconic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream “I Dough, I Dough” after the Supreme Court made the decision to allow same-sex couples to marry in all 50 states. According to People Magazine, the packaging is equally fitting, showing “two cows wearing top hats, with their tales intertwined to show solidarity.”

“Ben & Jerry’s is proud of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision against discrimination as it boldly stands up for equality for same sex couples everywhere,” Jostein Solheim, CEO of Ben & Jerry’s, said in a statement.
“And at Ben & Jerry’s, there’s only one way to celebrate: with a scoop of I Dough, I Dough, Marriage equality never tasted so good!” added Solheim.
Business Wire states that the “I Dough, I Dough” ice cream “will be available in a special commemorative pint sleeve at participating scoop shops for a limited time. The commemorative pint sleeves can also be purchased online through the Human Rights campaign, with all proceeds benefiting the organization.”

During its 37 years of service, Ben & Jerry’s has proven time and again their support for gay rights and marriage equality. In 1989, the company became the first company in the state of Vermont to offer same-sex couples benefits. Then, in 2009, Ben & Jerry’s renamed their Chubby Hubby ice cream flavor to “Hubby Hubby” to celebrate Vermont legalizing gay marriage. The ice cream maker was also one of 30 companies that signed the Amicus Brief to the Supreme Court in support of the equality movement.
