NBA Draft Pick Larry Nance Jr. Deletes Old ‘Rapist’ Tweet About Kobe Bryant

Larry Nance, Jr. reportedly had to delete a certain tweet from his account after being selected in the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday.

The 22-year-old forward was the 27th overall pick in the NBA Draft thanks to the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to ESPN, Nance had a discussion with the team’s general manager Mitch Kupchak in reference to a tweet that he posted back in 2012 about Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

“Gee I sure hope Kobe can keep his hands to himself in Denver this time. #rapist”

On Thursday night, Mitch Kupchak confirmed that he spoke to Larry Nance, Jr. alongside the team’s public relations director John Black, stating that the situation would be handled between the two of them.

“My understanding is that it’s something that happened years ago, and in today’s world, things don’t go away, which really doesn’t make it any less offensive because it was said three, four years ago.”

The controversial tweet has reportedly been deleted, which likely was one of the actions discussed between John Black and Larry Nance, Jr. Larry’s most recent tweet, which was posted on Thursday evening, shows support for the Los Angeles Lakers and their fans with a simple hashtag.

Now that he has been selected in the NBA Draft, Larry Nance, Jr. will have some pretty big shoes to fill. The University of Wyoming athlete is the son of Larry Nance, a three-time NBA All-Star and the very first NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion.

Throughout his years of playing high school and college basketball, Larry Nance, Jr. has been able to build a pretty solid reputation on the court himself. In 2015, Larry was named the Mountain West Conference (MWC) Defensive Player of the Year.

Only time will tell if he will become a solid asset for the Los Angeles Lakers, helping Kobe Bryant to win another championship before his rumored retirement.
