Blake Shelton Rescues Man Stranded By Tropical Storm Bill, Saves Roho Hartman By Pulling His Truck Out Of The Water

Blake Shelton was just doing what country boys do: lending a helping hand to someone in need.

On Wednesday, Roho Hartman was knee-deep in water, pushing his stalled truck up a flooded road near Ardmore, Oklahoma, when a man stopped to help him.

“There was a car on the other side… he went through it,” Hartman told KFOR. “I thought huh… I believe I’d make it too.”

Unfortunately, he didn’t make it, and he and another passerby were soon pushing the truck through the water. A few minutes later, a Dodge truck, which had a tow rope, pulled up and offered Hartman some assistance. Hartman accepted the help and quickly realized he was looking at a familiar face.

“The guy said ‘are you ready?'” Hartman recalled. “I thought… that looks like Blake Shelton. That’s exactly what I thought. And I said, ‘Yeah! I’m ready!'”

They managed to get the truck out of the water, but Hartman was still far from his home.

“I said hey, could you give me a ride home?'” said Hartman. “He said ‘where do you live’… I said, ‘just right over yonder.'”

The Voice coach agreed and started driving Hartman to his home. During the ride, Hartman received a phone call to his wife, explained the situation, and told his wife to get ready because Blake Shelton was coming to their house.

“I said, ‘Blake Shelton pulled me out and he’s gonna bring me on home!’ I said, ‘You better… you better slick up!'”

It took 15 minutes for the unlikely duo to reach the home. Once they arrived, Hartman and his wife snapped a few photos with Blake and then he left.

“Get him on that Facebook deal, however that is, I don’t know nothing about it,” Hartman said of Blake. “It was great, he’s a good fella I think, I like him.”

Earlier this month, Blake Shelton announced that he would be returning as a coach for Season 9 of The Voice. He will be joining his fellow coaches Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell Williams.

“Adam, Gwen, Pharrell and I had a blast together in Season 7 and I’m excited we’re back together again,” Shelton added. “They are all so talented but I’m pretty damn excited about another winning season for Team Blake.”
