John Katehis, George Weber: Candice Delong Interviews Kinky Sex Craigslist Killer On Investigation Discovery’s ‘Facing Evil’

The John Katehis, George Weber kinky sex Craigslist murder case will be the subject of the next episode of Facing Evil with Candice Delong on Investigation Discovery (ID). Facing Evil With Candice Delong is a weekly crime documentary that profiles a new killer every Friday.

This week’s episode teases, “Popular radio announcer George Weber is discovered stabbed in his bedroom. He met his killer, 16-year-old John Katehis, on Craigslist. Now Candice DeLong goes one-on-one.”

Beloved radio host George Weber made news headlines after his dead body was found in his Brooklyn, New York, apartment in March 2009. The former WABC radio announcer was discovered after his boss notified police that he hadn’t shown up to work in two days. A welfare check turned to a homicide case after police arrived at the Carroll Gardens Apartments, where they found the body of a white male lying dead in his bed with duck tape tied to his ankles. He was nude from the waist down. As police inspected the bloody scene, they found gay porn photos scattered about the room and water running from the bathtub faucet.

Law enforcement officials noted that there was no sign of forced entry. The investigation revealed that a neighbor had seen a young man outside his apartment on the night of the murder. Police were able to trace a slew of emails that were connected to John Katehis, a 16-year-old boy from East Elmhurst, Queens, who claimed to follow the teaching of Satan and enjoyed sadomasochism. A quick look at the boy’s MySpace profile presented a portrait of a very disturbed young man who enjoyed sadomasochism, Satan, violent movies, drinking, and drugs.

John Katehis was finally captured after his father lured him to police. After his arrest, he confessed to the brutal killing of George Weber. He also told police that he met George Weber on Craigslist, where Weber had placed a kinky ad for rough sex and smothering.

When the two met, Katehis said they did cocaine and drank vodka. That’s when police allege that Katehis stabbed Weber to death. An autopsy report revealed that the man had been stabbed 55 times. John Katehis was found guilty at his 2011 trial and convicted to serve 25 years to life in prison. Today, he continues to do his time in a New York State correctional facility.

George Weber’s friends and family remember him as a generous, kind man who had a bit of a wild side and was too trusting of people. The book American Honor Killings: Desire and Rage Among Men by David McConnell examined the Katehis-Weber case in depth.
