NBA Trade Rumors: Utah Jazz Ready To Trade Derrick Favors, Trey Burke

NBA trade rumors have the Utah Jazz looking to deal Derrick Favors and Try Burke. These Jazz trade rumors seem anchored in an attempt to lure Paul Millsap back to Utah in free agency. As the 2015 NBA Draft quickly approaches, a report from CBS Sports on Thursday (June 25) showed how the Jazz might trade Favors soon. The thought process seems to be that Millsap could help spread the floor in a way that Favors doesn’t, even though the latter player has so much youth on his side.

In another report from CBS Sports, Utah is open to making a draft-day trade that sends out point guard Trey Burke. Burke has played two seasons with the Jazz after being drafted out of Michigan. Burke ended up getting taken out of the starting rotation in the 2014-15 NBA season, showing that the team feels it has enough depth to trade him now. So what would Utah be looking for in exchange for Burke? It is rumored that the team wants a first-round pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

As previously reported on the Inquisitr, Paul Millsap is a player that the New York Knicks could pursue when the NBA free agency period begins. Any player that comes close to averaging a double-double on a nightly basis is going to be a hot commodity, especially with so many franchises needing to sign a big man in the offseason. The teams rumored to want a new power forward include the Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Paul Millsap played his first seven NBA seasons with the Utah Jazz, deciding to sign with the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent during the 2013 offseason. He went for a two-year deal at $19 million total, ensuring that he could go for a bigger deal if he found success in Atlanta. It is now possible that Millsap could see a huge raise in the offseason, especially if Utah is all-in at getting him back.

So what happens now with the Utah Jazz? Derrick Favors has three years and $35.1 million left on his deal. He is still just 23-years-old, so it might not be too difficult to find a trading partner. Ideally, the Jazz could deal Favors and Trey Burke in a deal that would net the team a nice selection (or two) in the 2015 NBA Draft. That would free up the money to pursue Millsap, even though fans might be a little confused about why the team didn’t try harder to keep him in the first place. Expect many fresh NBA trade rumors to surface now that Favors is officially being “shopped.”
