Watch USA Vs. China Live Online: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 Quarterfinal — Rematch Of ’99 Final

Team USA women’s soccer fans will be watching live online by the thousands as the USA faces China in a FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 quarterfinal match — a rematch of perhaps the most thrilling Final in the history of the tournament, when USA beat China on penalty kicks in 1999.

But if Team USA is going to defeat China again, 16 years later — this time with a semifinal berth on the line — they’ll have to do it without two key American players. Midfielders Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday both took their second yellow cards in Monday’s Round of 16 match against Colombia and, as a result, under FIFA rules, will be suspended for Friday’s matchup against China.

To find out how to watch the Team USA vs. China FIFA 2015 Women’s World Cup match live online, see the info in the final paragraph of this article. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, June 25, at Landsdowne Stadium in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. That’s 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time.

While Team USA have somehow ground their way through to a group stage first-place finish, followed by a victory in the first-ever Women’s World Cup Round of 16, their offense has yet to fire on all cylinders so far in the competition.

Team USA has come this far while managing only six goals in the four games so far — three of them coming in the opening match against Australia, and two more in the Round of 16 game with Colombia, playing with only 10 on the pitch for nearly 45 minutes.

With the suspensions of Rapinoe and Holiday, the team loses its top two scoring chance-creators in the tournament. Coach Jill Ellis hopes that a healthy Alex Morgan paired at the top with struggling veteran Abby Wambach — playing in her final World Cup — can make up for some of the offensive chances that will disappear with Rapinoe and Holiday in streetclothes Friday.

In 1999, the USA defeated China on penalty kicks in the Women’s World Cup Final. Since then, China has faded badly, failing even to qualify for the 2011 World Cup or the 2012 Olympics. Meanwhile, Team USA has advanced at least to the semifinals every year — though they haven’t won a World Cup since.

Will China get their long-awaited revenge for the 1999 defeat, or will Team USA reach the World Cup semifinals once again, as they have every year of the tournament?
