‘Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension’ Gives Horror Fans A First Look [Video]

Warning: This article may contain spoilers for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.

This summer marks the end of the Paranormal Activity franchise with the final installment, entitled Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Paramount Pictures in association with Blumhouse Productions have given fans a look at that final Paranormal Activity film with this first teaser.

As can be seen in the trailer, the story in this last Paranormal Activity installment focuses on Ryan Fleege (Chris J. Murray), Emily (Brit Shaw), and their young daughter Leila (Ivy George) as they move into the house once occupied by the Featherston family of the original 2007 Paranormal Activity film. In fact, the discovery of the Featherston’s family camera leads them to witness paranormal activity throughout their new home, culminating with the re-emergence of young Kristi and Katie.

The official synopsis for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is even less revealing than the trailer, but it does entice fans with the idea of a new family being drawn into the curse experienced by the Featherston family.

“After a young, middle class couple moves into a suburban ‘starter’ tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.”

“This will keep Paranormal Activity as part of this culture and this particular time in a really fantastic way. All the questions that everyone has asked from the past Paranormal Activity films: What does Toby look like? What’s the backstory to the families? These questions have been teased out. Now they will be answered,” producer Jason Blum said of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.

While it has become something of a joke to say that a franchise is ending, particularly in the horror genre, Blum assures fans that this is not a marketing ploy.

“We made this movie like it’s the end of this Paranormal line for sure,” the Paranormal Activity producer said. “It’s coming to an end. This is it, the finale. We’re saying it before the movie opens. We’re not going to grind this horror franchise into the ground.”

It seems the creative team behind the Paranormal Activity franchise is eager to exit on a high note and, if the trailer is any indication, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension gives them a good chance of doing that.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension will hit theaters on October 23, just in time for Halloween.
