Ali Fedotowsky Defends ‘Bachelorette’ Kaitlyn Bristowe: ‘Slut Shaming Is Not Cool’

Former Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky, spoke out in defense of Kaitlyn Bristowe doing what, according to her, 95 percent of Bachelors and Bachelorettes have done during the show. In Ali’s opinion, Kaitlyn is being met with a big “double standard” after facing harsh criticism for having sex with Nick Viall on Monday’s episode of the Bachelorette.

Ali took to her blog to slam the haters who are “slut shaming” Kaitlyn, who says she has no regrets for her decision. Fedotowsky pointed out that if it was a man in Kaitlyn’s shoes, he would not be facing the same type of backlash. She goes on to say Kaitlyn is far from the the only person to have sex on the show, claiming that 95 percent of the Bachelors and Bachelorettes do.

“So let me just dive into this topic by saying slut shaming is NOT COOL! What is wrong with people?!?! I mean really. It makes me SO angry that there is such a double standard in this world when it comes to men and women having sex. I can assure you that Kaitlyn is NOT the first person to have sex with someone on the show. In fact, I would argue that 95% of the Bachelors and Bachelorette DO have sex on the show.”

Fedotowsky goes on to say that while Kaitlyn may have moved a little faster than some by doing it prior to the fantasy suite, it really shouldn’t matter. Ali brought up the fact that creator of the show Mike Fleiss has said an unnamed Bachelor had sex with 6 of his 25 suitors. She said it’s unfair to judge Kaitlyn when this particular Bachelor faced zero shaming.

“Sure, Kaitlyn did it before the infamous fantasy suite, but does that really matter? I’ve heard Mike Fleiss (the creator of the show) say that one of the Bachelors had sex with something like 6 of his 25 women!!! I’m not going to say who that Bachelor is, but people didn’t slut shame him. So stop judging Kaitlyn for following her heart annnnnnd her vagina.”

Ali isn’t the only one jumping in to defend Kaitlyn. Host Chris Harrison talked to E! News about the reaction to the episode. He feels Kaitlyn has more fans behind her than it appears since the public is so focused on social media. He says social media rants aren’t necessarily a reflection of their entire audience because, “Most people in this country aren’t on Twitter, shockingly enough!”

“What I find is this very divisive reaction to her, very divided, and some people are strongly behind her, like Amy Schumer, then there are others who are shocked and appalled. I think if you just go by social media, obviously, the negative idiots are the loudest. People who care or are positive usually aren’t going on and ranting on social media. It always seems a lot worse than it is. I think the majority are either behind or or honestly aren’t that appalled or that amazed by it all. So I think you need to be careful where you’re taking your Litmus test or temperature of America.”

Harrison admitted that “sex happens sometimes” on the show. He said it’s usually not until they reach the fantasy suites, but “So be it.” He went on to say he wasn’t appalled that two grown adults searching for love decided to “do it.”

“They’re grown adults and they’re looking for love. I wasn’t that appalled. Would you do it? That’s a different question? Would I do it? That’s a different question. But she chose to do it. They were two adults who decided to literally do it.”

Do you agree with Ali Fedotowsky and host Chris Harrison? Or did the Bachelorette go too far too soon?
