Alex Hribal: Teen Stabbed 20 Classmates With Kitchen Knives — Victims Want Him Tried As An Adult To ‘Fix Evil’

Alex Hribal, now 17 years old, is currently being held in a juvenile jail for slashing up to 20 of his classmates and a security guard with two 8-inch kitchen knives at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. The victims of his horrific attack are now urging the justice system to try Alex Hribal as an adult, because they believe that would help to fix the “evil” inside him.

According to the Huffington Post, a handful of the students injured by Hribal’s stabbing spree testified against him on Monday, showing off the gruesome wounds the teen left. All of the victims survived the attack, but Alex Hribal is facing 21 attempted murder charges. The teen pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the Post Gazette, if Alex Hribal is found guilty within juvenile court, he may only be imprisoned until he turns 21.

Court documents claim that Alex Hribal exhibits symptoms of pre-schizophrenia and suicidal tendencies. While the mental illnesses may help to explain the stabbing spree, they may not do much to keep the teen from prison. A special hearing was held to determine if Hribal should be tried as an adult for the bloody rampage. Victims testified to Common Pleas Judge Christopher Feliciani in an attempt to illustrate the violent horror that Alex Hribal brought to Franklin Regional High School in April of 2014.

“I looked down and I saw I was gushing blood everywhere,” said Connor Warwick, who was stabbed in the stomach by Alex Hribal. “I don’t really think they can fix evil with pills, so I think definitely adult court.”

Warwick’s stomach was punctured on both sides. His liver, gallbladder, and pancreas were also sliced by the blade, and one of his lungs collapsed.

“It was wet and I could feel that my lip wasn’t attached to my face anymore,” said another victim, Katie Lonergan. “Whenever you do something that bad you can’t be let out so soon.”

Lonergan was slashed in the face by Alex Hribal, leaving a permanent scar on her upper lip.

Another teen, Greg Keener, suffered a stab wound so severe that his liver slipped out of his body. It took 20 surgeries to repair the damage caused by Alex Hribal, and Keener still suffers from nightmares and flashbacks.

Alex Hribal’s rampage came to an end when he was tackled by Assistant Principal Sam King. King testified against the teen as well, claiming that after he was tackled Alex said, “I am not going to drop the knives, my work is not finished, there’s more people to be killed.”

According to Ryot, the teen’s motives for the attack are still unclear. During the stabbing spree, Alex Hribal maintained a blank expression on his face.
