First Official Artwork For AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ San Diego Comic Con Indicates A Great Divide In Season 6

WARNING: Speculation about AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 6 abounds in this article. If you have not watched up to the finale of Season 5, proceed at caution.

As July approaches, so does the manic lead up to the San Diego Comic Con. Every year, this event is the premiere event for showcasing new teasers about the latest television shows and movies. This year is no exception when it come to AMC’s The Walking Dead.

While the Inquisitr recently announced The Walking Dead’s new companion series, Fear The Walking Dead would be heading to San Diego’s Comic Con along with their Walking Dead counterparts, AMC has just released the Walking Dead banner that will accompany them. So, let the speculation about Season 6 of The Walking Dead begin!

Let’s break down the image a little shall we?

First impressions show Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan (Lennie James). They are not looking at each other, things look a little tense, there is a gap between them, a divide – or a difference of opinions? Considering how Morgan and Rick were reunited at the end of Season 5 of The Walking Dead, there is certain room for conflict there since Morgan considers all life as important and he had just witnessed Rick taking a life. E! Online also noted the fact that while Lennie James confirmed Morgan will be back in Season 6 for at least one episode, this poster would indicate Morgan will be a large part of Season 6.

Let’s span out a little now. Second glance at the Walking Dead San Diego Comic Con banner shows a greater divide. Rick’s gang is on one side of the banner and the people of Alexandria are on the other. Everyone in Rick’s group still look dirty and road weary, with the exception of Carol (Melissa McBride). Will she be attempting to fly under the radar in Alexandria again in Season 6? On the Alexandria side, everyone appears neat and clean. Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh) looks angry and Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) looks concerned. Interesting to note is the fact Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) are in their respective groups, although Aaron is tucked away in the back there, so people could wonder if their bromance from Season 5 has changed into Season 6 of The Walking Dead.

Lastly – and this is the most interesting bit, so, of course, I saved it for last: Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam). As we saw in Season 5, Father Gabriel turned out to be a turncoat. He told Deanna that Rick’s group were bad – perhaps to cover his own guilt at what he had done at the start of the outbreak when he locked his parishioners out of his church. Father Gabriel now appears to be firmly rooted into Alexandria’s side, tucked away in the back there.

Something else to note, Rick’s group appears to be larger than the group from Alexandria. While we know this isn’t true, Alexandria has a much larger sized group. However, could this indicate that the strength of Rick’s group far outweighs the group in Alexandria?
