Megyn Kelly Lands On The Cover Of ‘Variety’

Megyn Kelly has gone from just a regular Fox News anchor to a superstar in just five years. If you need more proof, Variety put Mrs. Kelly on the cover of their magazine. It’s the latest coup for one of the most loved and hated female news anchors in cable television history.

Variety notes that Megyn Kelly is not the die-hard Republican that many think she is.

“The take-no-prisoners newswoman isn’t afraid to throw hardballs at Republicans. She recently lectured Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul over his penchant for arguing with female reporters. She poked Jeb Bush about whether he would have invaded Iraq in 2003. She cornered Mike Huckabee for saying it was trashy for women to swear in public.”

Megyn Kelly’s independent stance on some issues is definitely what attracts a lot of viewers. In fact, she is the only anchor at Fox who has been a vocal supporter of transgender rights. However, Kelly hasn’t always had thick skin, especially in the beginning. She recalls a time when Jon Stewart skewered her on his show.

“When you’re young and just starting, you think, ‘Oh gosh, how much power does he have? Is he going to hurt me.’ Frankly, I really no longer listen to Jon Stewart. I think we’ve stood the test of time.”

Kelly reveals to Variety that despite popular belief, she is not a Republican — Kelly has voted for both Democrats and Republicans. Megyn believes her political ideology makes her a more effective reporter. She has done so well that her boss, Roger Ailes, is giving her a series of primetime specials, just like he did with Bill O’Reilly.

Megyn Kelly will not back down from controversy. Last week, she interviewed Dr. Ben Carson about whether President Obama and Hillary Clinton used the right tone to respond to the horrific shooting in Charleston.

“Certainly not the tone that I would have adopted. I think we have to start is going to the heart of the matter. The heart of the matter is not guns. The heart of the matter is the heart. The heart and soul of people. You know, this young man didn’t wake up yesterday and suddenly turn into a maniac.”

The Kelly File is the most-watched cable news show besides The O’Reilly Factor. Are you a fan of Megyn Kelly’s reporting? Tell us what you think about her in the comments section.
