Beyonce Wanted For Marvel Superhero Role – Could She Play Captain Marvel?

Marvel Studios are allegedly eyeing up Beyonce Knowles for a future superhero role that could see her star alongside Thor, Iron Man, and The Hulk.

The Daily Star, via Capital FM, have alleged that Beyonce could be added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however they refused to reveal which character the singer is in line to play.

An unnamed senior executive for Disney talked to the aforementioned publication.

“We would love to have Beyonce on board, almost certainly as a newcomer to the screen from Marvel’s existing catalogue of comic book characters.”

It’s been speculated that the roles that Beyonce could be considered for includes Monica Rambeau, the second Captain Marvel, who in the comics eventually led the Avengers, also had the code names Photon and Pulsar and is currently known as Spectrum.

Beyonce Knowles is widely recognised for her musical endeavours, having sold over 11 million copies and earned five Grammy Awards for her tracks that have included “Baby Boy” and “Crazy in Love.”

However, she has also ventured into the movies too. She has previously appeared in Austin Powers in Goldmember, The Fighting Temptations, The Pink Panther, Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records, Obsessed and Epic. In fact, she even received a Golden Globe nomination for Dreamgirls.

Beyonce has previously made it clear that she would be interested in a superhero role. In fact, back in 2008, during a discussion with the Los Angeles Times, via People, Beyonce admitted that she’d love to play Wonder Woman.

“After these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero.’ I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman?”

It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?

I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. But I love Wonder Woman and it’s be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso.”

It was even alleged that Beyonce held talks with DC Comics and Warner Bros to discuss playing the character. However, these ultimately didn’t prove to be fruitful, because that incarnation of Wonder Woman was shelved, and Gal Gadot will now play the character in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, before she gets her own origin story. Wonder Woman will be released in 2017.
