‘Princess Diaries 3’ Movie Is Not Happening, Anne Hathaway Won’t Wear Tiara Again
When news dropped that Princess Diaries 3 would be happening, fans of the Anne Hathaway-leading Disney film almost broke the Internet with their excitement.
Now we’re finding out that fans of the Princess Diaries saga will be disappointed to hear that the movie is definitely not happening.
According to Entertainment Weekly, a sequel is not happening, nor is there one in production. Originally, reports from Tracking Board suggested that a new movie was in the works.
The rumor of the third film spun out of control when Hathaway’s co-star, Heather Matazzaro, linked the original report on her Twitter. At the time, she wrote, “Well here is some good news for #PrincessDiaries fans.”
She then followed it up by encouraging Princess Diaries fans.
Why? Princess Diaries is amazing!! https://t.co/ELQVBI1dtW

I’m gonna be super honest, I am 100% more excited about a possibility of Princess Diaries 3 than the release date for the pitch perfect 3

According to the source, which was debunked, “The plot of Princess Diaries 3 is being kept tight under lock and key, with sources telling me that the film may or may not include Hathaway, with an intention to launch a reboot of the franchise.”
Although Anne Hathaway has had nice things to say about her experience making the Princess Diaries, she did open up to Glamour about the repercussions it had on her career early on.
“Of course, after Princess Diaries, I was labeled a good girl, and for the first eight years of my career I had to fight to get any other kind of role. But I like fighting for a job, actually. Once you get it, you feel like you’ve emerged victorious from the scrap and you’re like, ‘OK, this one’s mine. Did it. Done.’ “
Hathaway’s co-star, Julie Andrews, said that she didn’t think another one was in the works either, as it’s obvious that Hathaway probably wouldn’t reprise the role for a third time. “I would never say no because Disney’s so wonderfully clever and inventive but I would think they’ll stay with just the two because of Annie.”
