MMVAs 2015: Justin Bieber Wins Fan Fave Artist For Fifth Consecutive Year

Justin Bieber won the Fan Fave Artist award at the 2015 Much Music Video Awards on Sunday night.

The fan-voted win is the fifth consecutive triumph for this award for Bieber, who first won it back in 2010.

Romping to the win with over 22 million votes, Bieber beat out Shawn Mendes, Drake, The Weeknd, and Carly Rae Jepsen in the Fan Fave Artist category.

Bieber didn’t make it to Toronto to collect his trophy at the 26th Much Music Video Awards. Following the reveal of his historic win, the heartthrob tweeted gratitude to his fans, Much organizers, and his homeland Canada.

“@Much thank you. See u soon. Beliebers you have never given up on me. Thank you and I love you for that!” Bieber wrote.

“#JustinForMMVA we did it! Love u Canada. Promise to make u proud. Grown up in front of u & grown a lot. Thanks for sticking with me. Love u,” the 21-year-old singer added. He then retweeted the following posts.

Justin Bieber fans quickly took to Twitter to express their jubilation at winning the Fan Fave Artist award for their idol. And so, to the rest of 2015 Much Music Video Awards.

This year the event was co-hosted by Brit artist Ed Sheeran, Much Music’s Liz Trinnear, and Tyrone Edwards.

The show was staged at Much headquarters in Toronto and surrounding streets, where thousands cheered the red carpet arrivals, awards giving and performances.

Stars who walked the red included model Gigi Hadid, her ex-boyfriend, Australian teenage musician Cody Simpson, R&B singer Jason Derulo, Hailee Steinfeld, hockey star Connor McDavid, and more.

The MMVAs kicked off with middling turns of Fall Out Boy performing “Uma Thurman” and Carly Rae Jepsen singing “I Really, Really, Really Like You.” Other performances included Nick Jonas, Sheeran, Tori Kelly, Scott Helman, Walk Off the Earth and Sarah Blackwood, Mia Martina and the rapper Waka Flocka, and The Weeknd.

Presenters included Sarah Hyland, Simpson, Steinfeld, Tyler Posey, Adam Lambert, Fun lead singer Nate Nuess, Hadid, Brody Jenner, Bella Thorne, Echosmith, Debby Ryan, and more.

It was a big night for The Weeknd, who received six nominations and went on to take the most awards home.

These were, Video of the Year, Best Director, Best Pop Video, and the Most Buzzworthy Canadian Artist. Sheeran bagged the Best International Artist award and Most Buzzworthy International Artist, while Mendes won the Fan Fave Video award.
