‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Spoilers: Maya Reunites With Parents As Transgender Storyline Evolves

In an interesting reveal of The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers, head writer and executive producer of the hit soap, Bradley Bell, gives the scoop on what viewers can expect from Maya Avante’s storyline.

In an interview with TV Insider, Bell explains that soon Maya’s parents will arrive in Los Angeles, giving more depth to the transgender storyline that actress Karla Mosley carries out on B&B.

Maya’s sister, Nicole (played by Reign Edwards), has already helped provide some backstory with the family dynamics. Now their mother and father are set to arrive on the scene in July.

Bell says he knew right away which actors he wanted to fill the role. Anna Maria Horsford and Obba Babatundé were the ones he picked, his Bold and the Beautiful spoilers indicate.

“We saw tapes of many, many actors but as soon as I saw Anna Maria and Obba, I knew I had to cast them. ‘That’s her! That’s him!’ They are so phenomenal in these roles that their characters have practically written themselves. And their arrival is going to make Maya an even more fascinating and complex character. On soaps, as in life, you learn a lot of surprising things about a person when you meet the parents!”

How will the reunion with Maya’s parents go? Given their background, there are a lot of hard feelings to be mended. That will be interesting in itself.

Rick asks Maya to move back into the mansion with him, and she agrees to be Forrester’s lead model again. In July, a fashion show hits Paris and New York that focuses on Maya’s story. In addition to that, some new transgender characters will make a cameo appearance. Isis King and Carmen Carrera will be part of the fashion show.

Bell says they just completed the episodes and is excited about them coming out.

“We just shot it and it’s incredibly beautiful and really fun to watch! It speaks to our continued commitment to Maya’s story and to the transgender community. Transgender models are appearing on the runways in Paris and New York. Why not on B&B?”

Bradley Bell says that the show collaborates with the director of programs and transgender media at GLAAD, Nick Adams. Adams has guided writers in using the correct terminology or scripts and is said to be supportive of how Bold and the Beautiful is telling the transgender story.

Soap Central notes in B&B spoilers for this coming week that Ridge makes Maya a big offer, but he puts conditions on it. This might be when she agrees to return as the lead model for Forrester Creations. What conditions will Ridge make that Maya must agree to first?
