Anna Chlumsky, ‘My Girl’ Actress, Turns Heads On ‘Veep’ Red Carpet

Anna Chlumsky will never fully be able to shake off her “My Girl” image but the 31-year-old actress has moved on to bigger things. Chlumsky, who starred opposite Macaulay Culkin in the hit 1991 movie, recently hit the red carpet for the premier of her new show, “Veep.”

Chlumsky stars alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale in the new HBO comedy. Clhumsky plays Amy Brookheimer, the ambitious chief of staff to the vice president, played by Dreyfus.

Chlumsky told Us Magazine that she almost gave up on acting. After a few roles as a kid, Chlumsky turned her attention to getting a degree at the University of Chicago. She didn’t plan on returning to acting but due to a psychic visit, she decided to give it another shot.

Chlumsky said:

“When I graduated from college I thought I was over with show business and was pursuing other things… There were a lot of signs leading up to my getting back into [the] business. I was crying on my lunch break, and there was a psychic was handing out her pamphlets, and she said, ‘Excuse me I have a question.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, get away from me.’ But she followed me and poked me on the shoulder and said, ‘Are you the girl from My Girl?’ I said, ‘Yes,’ to the psychic, and she was like, ‘You still want to act,’ and I was like, ‘Oh God!’ I fell hook, line and sinker. I paid her like, $40 for 10 minutes of palm reading.”
