Calum Hood: You Won’t Believe Who His Special 5SOS Guest Was In New Zealand

Calum Hood and his pals in Australian chart toppers 5 Seconds Of Summer are currently out on a world tour. Sadly, things have not been going exactly as planned for Calum and his pals. Billboard reported last week that Hood’s pal, guitarist Michael Clifford, was left with burns on his face and head after his hair caught fire during a show in London, England. Clifford’s accident happened when he got too close to onstage pyrotechnics. Despite his head and face being bandaged, Clifford was able to complete the UK portion of the tour and is recovering well.

It appears that Michael wasn’t the only one to fall foul of the pyrotechnics though. The Mirror reports that Calum Hood was also injured by the flames. Calum was filmed as he jumps up to the drum platform before flames shoot out, and he quickly shoots his arm out the way, appearing to hug it to his chest seconds later.

After the catalog of injuries, Calum and his mates will be glad to be back Down Under as they took their tour back to home soil this week. Just a few days after Hood and Clifford were injured, the boys were back onstage in Auckland, New Zealand. Fans will have been relieved that Hood and company were fit enough to perform and will doubtless have been unsurprised that there were no pyrotechnics at the Vector Arena show.

Hood did have a surprise up his sleeve for the mostly teenage female audience though. Calum took the opportunity to demonstrate that he is not the only one when talent in the Hood family. According to Sugarscape, Calum took the opportunity to have his 9-year-old cousin onstage to play bass with the band. According to the New Zealand Herald, Calum’s stunt was heart melting and adorably cute.

Calum and the rest of 5 Seconds Of Summer are now back in their native Australia for a series of shows before they begin a major headlining tour in the U.S. and Canada on July 17.

According to the Daily Mail, Hood is not the only member of 5 Seconds of Summer to have a family member willing to get on stage with the band to showcase their own talent. Last night, Hood’s bandmate Ashton Irwin brought his little brother Harry onstage to play guitar in a stunt that sent the audience wild.

Calum and Michael seem to have totally recovered from their fiery ordeal, but Michael is still sporting two scabs on his face.
